Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Seeking Lebanese / Palestinians to act as officials in this match? Easy – just pick out a random person wandering about
in London, and you're bound to find one. Walking around the streets of London, I could swear I'm in Beirut (at least, there's
more of them here in London than over there). Of course, there's now 23 less of them "lads" out there, but I assure you that
it shouldn’t affect your ability to find one.

Come to think of it, I'm glad that these 23 are in custody and that all the planes flying out to Kiev from Heathrow with
the red fans made it there safely, but hey, assuming Liverpool makes it to the CL, there are still plenty of matches and
plenty of flights, and who know – maybe Mustafa will be able to make it to one of them and successfully mix his liquid
TNT bottles, or whatever it was. Make sure you get a window seat, I hear a plane crashing down on the ocean beats any
amusement park ride out there, hands tied (depending on the altitude, you might even find some time to throw in a few
Liverpool chants on the way down).

All commentators in this forum who say 'no politics' and get into politics in the following sentence, speak of the 'war zone'
as if it was in a different galaxy, when it's right down their alley – maybe you don't know it yet, but your children will (whether
they'll be the bomber or the victim, depending on your origin).

Enjoy the flight, say hi to Mustafa, and don't forget to wear your seatbelt during landing.

Oh, although I see clearly into the future as stated above, I can not reveal tonight's score line – apologies.

I've re-read the post twice and have come to the conclusion that in the annual forum awards, the misnomer of the year category must be over for this term.
You are sir completely barking, but I wish you well all the same.

I have sympathy for MH but I wish their supporters would realise that there is conflict in their country and please listen to this point

WAR IS NOT NORMAL

It saddens me that they seem to be desensitised to war and conflict as if it is normal and part of life.  I agree with UEFA on the decision.  The accusations of cowardice flying about are out of order.  Believe it or not we in this country have experienced war and the ones that have dont really want to see it again, and there are people worldwide who are glad we did experience it.

Whilst I was is support of Israely teams in European competition, this spat by certain people just does make me want them removed totally so they can play in their regions competition, but they cant due to constant conflict.

I genuinely pity those who are so used to conflict that it is part of everyday life and I thank my stars I live in a country that has and is trying to learn from mistakes even though we still make them and admit to it

I'm not going to be able to watch the match until 8pm so I'm going to have about 30 minutes of nervousness

Broadly speaking this is the approach I advocate in every game  :D . Fair play to you mate.

ye bigmick but sometimes were abit slow and edgy at the start off games like on saturday, it took a conceded goal to kick our @rses into gear but if we start with a high tempo and get the goal i cant see anything but a liverpool win  :D

Sorry these comments about pesticide from these pr1cks have just wound me up.

They have the nerve to have a go at UEFA and Liverpool, when it was UEFA who sanctioned their country to join it so they wouldn't have to travel throughout the middle-east and risk getting slaughtered.

Dear taff,

I couldn't agree more – war is not "normal", but it's out there. There are British troops out there in Iraq as we
speak, you simply don't see them (the Iraqis do).

Trying to take this back to "football related" issues, and following your logic, I assume that should the satanic
plan to take down 12 airplanes at Heathrow 6 days ago had taken place, you would be the first to advocate
Barcelona's demand not to play on British soil until things calm down (after all, who wants to fly out from
an airport where planes explode). Furthermore - I also have no doubt that this demand by Barcelona (or
Milan or Bayern) would have received the full support of this entire forum (including BigMick), and that everyone
here would love to fly out to Budapest (or wherever) for the home games like one big happy family.

I was only laughing at the phraseology Dav, not the sentiment. I think you are absolutely on the money and I've spoken about it often. If you watched Man Utd or Chelsea on Sunday you could see the difference between their first ten minutes and ours instantly. They absolutely tore into their opponents from the off and were really "at it" to coin a footballing phrase.

I would be very surprised if both Mourhinho and Ferguson didn''t warn their players before the off about a lacklustre start. "Remember what happenened to Liverpool yesterday" they will have been saying. Tempo, desire and belief, it's what wins football matches. All this "lets see how it goes for the first twenty" is a load of old b0ll0cks in the Premiership these days. There are five or six teams that haven't got the right to be on the same pitch as us and Sheffield United are one of them. It should be a goal difference job and from the outset we should be going for the jugular.

I know people will post up "ah but theres no easy games" etc etc but lets see how Sheffield United go in the rest of their games. My suspicion is that they are the easiest game we will have all season because they will finish bottom of the table.

Dear Sane fan

If the plot was succesful I would not be in favour of staging football games in the same week no and cant see many people who would be.

I am aware of British troops deployed around the world and it does sadden me personally and I hope they return safely.

Oh and I dont agree with terrorism but they are not satanic as they as far as Im aware, religious and think they are in the right. This seems to be the root of a lot of issues worldwide

Back to football we win get home and this is behind us for another twelve months and good luck to MH in their league which is not in Europe  :D

It's cetainly a more thought provoking and well thought out response than your first effort and I congratulate you for that. There are however a couple of distinctions between the alleged plan to blow up the aeroplanes in the UK and the situation in Israel.

Firstly, the Uk is not currently at war with any soveriegn country. You could I suppose argue that neither is Israel anymore as they've retreated from inside Lebanon and have mostly stopped bombing the place, while the rockets have mostly stopped landing on Haifa. Israel was however at war at the time of UEFA's decision, and the rockets were still landing on Haifa. To expect anybody to travel into such a situation and play a game of football is just being silly frankly.

Now to run with your terror plot scenario. Had the plot have succeeded and thousands of people perished over the Atlantic, I personally wouldn't have blamed Barcelona or anybody else for not wanting to fly to the Uk for the forseeable. Like I've said before, footballs important but it's not that important.

The time has probably come for UEFA to look at who plays in their competitions and whether or not they are actually in Europe. Comments such as the ones made by some Haifa fans on here while being disgraceful are only fan-chatter but I guess that happens everywhere. When you get officials of the club talking about "pesticide in dressing rooms" however it really is time to have a look in my opinion.

in my opinion, Israel shouldn't be allowed to play in ANY European competitions...simply because they arn't in Europe..in fact isn't Lebanon closer to Europe than Israel   ???
