You have to say this was down to our managers reluctance to REALLY go after him . Thats not BLAMING Rafa , that's highlighting the fact that ulitimately the wisdom of that decision will be Rafa's responsibility .

How much money do you think we have in the kitty? Rafa to blame? you're a'ving a laugh!! If he had Chelski's money I think Owen would be a Liverpool player now!!
RAFA HAS NO MONEY!!! You can not blame him for that!!

get your facts right mate , we put up the same as the toons, we did not get owen due to RB telling him that he would not start most on the games and he was not going to be first choice.

What, we put up SIXTEEN POINT FIVE MILLION POUNDS??
Prove it to me then lakes, and I will be with you 100%!!!

In magical fairy land, Senor Benitez uses his final wish to make 9 million pounds appear out of thin air to purchase Owen.
Mourinho was customizing his flashy blue racing car -- applying the finishing touches of go-faster stripes, aerodynamic spoilers and a fat f@ck you exhaust -- while on his red car, Benitez was trying to glue together a broken chassis, repair bodywork and replace burst tyres.

we might not have too, put it this way, mr russian now has 2 ex sas and minders, something tells me he has a price on his head and he knows it.if and i hope not, we might get them gat a cut price when they go bust

Who cares about Abramovich? He's invested money in the club and has made money. Even if he gets thrown in jail Chelsea could still have plenty enough of money available.

Mourinho would never sell Terry and Chelsea have enough money to make sure that he stays. Terry to Chelsea is like Carragher to us, both loyal to the club and both will probably never leave the club.

That was an interesting explanation from from la-la land.

Real Madrid didn't want Owen to go to Liverpool for two reasons that I see:
1) 9 million pound difference in transfer fees.
2) Newcastle aren't a contender in Europe and probably won't be for years to come.

How old are you lakes?

I am glad that you are older than me so I hope that you are reasonable about this. But ultimately then, if your Sky story is true the ball was in Michael's court .

He didn't have the confidence to be 1st choice over our present strikers because of what Rafa said? Come on, you know that is bo//ocks.

I am very worried by the rise of serious negativism at this forum during this summer, that is directed at the club - read Rafa and Parry.

It seems that people do have very short memory.

The major issues were:
1. Big name signings, or lack of- splashing vast amounts of cash to prove ambition
2. Getting Owen
3. Failure to do the above mentioned things mean that we are not going in the rright direction and LFC is slumping into mediocrity..

I cannot believe what I read, seriously.

If you would kindly remember, at the end of the Houllier era, the club had incured a net loss of more that 60M pound from transfers. Additionally, you might remember the "golden handshake" with the Monsieur and his staff, which costed the club a further 10M

The people on this forum seem to forget very kickly the sh*thole that we were in 15 months ago. And do not stop critisizing the man that pulled us out from there.
