How long would you give rb

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Look at the situation from the beginning.

There's talk about Rafa letting MO go.

Am i wrong in believing that MO could have signed a new contract but declined-choosing to try his luck elsewhere?

Could someone enlighten me on this please?

If that is the case, then Rafa would probably dig his heels in an refuse to be (in essence) dictated to by MO.

Also look at the money Toon offered in relation to what we were willing to pay, something like 9 mill. difference?

Thats a huge amount of dough, some PREMIER teams WHOLE budget, an moreover, PROFIT for Madrid.

Also what would that have done to Rafa's budget? Maybe he was being utterly realistic and we really need to spend the money on other areas.

Sorry, but that is absolutely RIDICULOUS, shameful and all of the other bad words that exist in the English dictionary.

There is NO common sense in your post whatsoever, it's obvious that you just don't like Rafa at all.

So far this season we have been dominating every game, and we haven't been leaking goals either.

We beat Leverkusen and Olympiakos comfortably in friendlies.

We beat Sunderland at home
We controlled Boro away, but failed to score

We won the super cup

We have played many games, and we haven't lost a single game yet. I believe we are better this year than last, but I admit I was hoping for a bit more transfer activity. Still I won't give up on a winger and centre half. What if Benitez has a few aces well hidden is his sleeve, and tomorrow night we sign 2 wonderful players?

If Benitez doesn't make any signings i still trust him and Pako to get our squad damn fit and work a lot on formation and tactics which will make us a hard team to beat.

Lakes i will agree with you and Woof on the basis that Rafa has more than likely scored an own goal but what can you do? if our strikers don't start scoring on a regular basis then i hate to think what will happen.

The worst thing of the day was the Broen Ale supporters singing are you watchin Liverpool :( Are the flippin demented? we had him since 11yrs old and on a lighter not we signed an ex Scum striker on a 12 month and a winger from some funny sounding club and lastly Sven keep your bloody nose out of club football teams business

Lakes I know u have never rated the Boss.. but even for you this is low  :no

I would not want our club to have any player, if the Boss don't want him.

Mr Owen has made the decision to take a step backwards, that is his choice, but why should our club be held to ransom because a buch on nobodys, in fact a club whose pedigree is 4th rate to ours offer rediculous amounts of money

12 months ago Michael left our Boss with no alternative but to let him go, to pursue a dream that Benitez achieved at LFC without Owen  :rasp

Now you ask how long we should give this MAN.  A life time I say, cos turning the fortunes of this club round is no mean task. He will lead us to success and Premiership glory, of that I can assure you.

Your a blo*dy stirrer .. Lakes   :upside:

I appreciate your considerd response Misty but please dont bracket me with Lakes . I'm far from suggesting we should consider Rafa's credibility as Liverpools manager . I am however expressing the opinion that we have missed out on resigning a great striker and that ultimately Rafa bears the responsibility for that .
Considering that we have not signed the much sought after RM and CD I'm amazed that Rafa has not bolstered a miss firing strke force .

Lakes "5 week" question is of course ridiculous and as expected provoked a knee jerk "FK off cu'nt" reaction from the usual sources .Such reaction however fails to address the nub of the question which is .Has Rafa made a mistake ?
Perhaps in a couple of months time we'll all have the definitive answer to that question .

WHAT!  :suspect:

How is this Rafael's fault?

Ok so yeah Rafa is to blame that we bloody sold him a year ago to Madrid for a BARGAIN 12 Million EUROS??!!

And then Owen is available again and you expect Rafa to guarantee Owen 1st tream football and pay over the odds to get him back? Sorry, but that would be stupid....

The right decision has been made under the circumstances.

I would have LOVED to have see Owen back, I have NO grudges against him whtsoever....

I trust Rafa 100%, and so should the rest of us, let's move on ok, this saga is finally over.

Cheers!  :;):

Can't argue with CL win, but lets face it, we are still not a great team and the signings made this summer will not turn us into one. The top three are still a distance away from us and the fact that we are already two games behind them due to other commitments won't help our bid to keep up with them.

I like Rafa a lot and he's definitely the man for the job, but then I liked GH at this stage too. Everyone keeps saying "trust rafa" and I do trust the guy, despite having watched too many lifeless and unappealing games that I am still not convinced that we are anywhere near challenging for the title.

Gerrard Houllier was going in the right direction until his unfortunate health scare, then everything changed, it was quite eye opening, we went back to letting in sloppy goals, not chasing down in packs etc. Rafa is a very shrewd guy, a winner, he's done it before and he is doing it here. We have a very good manager and we will not be in a position in 5 games where anyone would suggest a change. This guy will leave when Real Madrid make him and his family an offer they can't refuse, even then we will fight tooth and nail to keep him. This is when we will look back at the golden years.
