woof woof ! wrote:Lakes , your time frame is a little off but the essence of your question is valid . Certainly failure to progress in the CL and improve on last seasons Prem finish Compounded with Rafa's decision to effectively let Owen walk away will certainly raise questions over his managment . I count today as Rafa's first major mistake . Let's face it ,he could have had Owen if he really wanted him ,but he's obviously decided he's not that bothered, for the life of me I still don't know why ,after all our current strike force is showing all the bite of my granny with her teeth out. . Lack of success this season and this weeks events will come back to haunt him . Having said that . you don't throw away a manager who has brought you the biggest trophy in club football during his first season just because he failed to sign a particular player.

good post, you made the same point that i was trying to make but much better

going by sky it seems RB told Owen that he would not get in the first team, in that case well done Owen i would have done the same, i would not sit on another bench for a year

tell you what, let's petition to sack RB and get souness back. he can bring MO with him. i'm sure you will be thrilled then. :p

i am sorry but my knives  have always been out. he is a great European manager but not a good prem manager and that is my point.

How long do you give him? As long as :censored: takes!..(25th May, another night I won't forget with LFC)
This is my first post since Owen has agreed to sign for the Barcodes. I wanted Micheal to sign for us,as I believe we won't score the goals in the games that are tight and there are only 1 or 2 chances, but on reflection LFC were right not to pay twice what they sold him for and I support that just like I do LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB. Newcastle, could have paid alot less than that, they are the ones that look like the fools not us. Rafa does not have the money to splash around and you can not BLAME HIM for that and with that in mind, he's probably the only manager IN THE WORLD who can bring us the premership on a tight budget. Go get em Rafa.

first season with Ged's team and rb has us in the final of the CC (which we lost by a fluke own goal) and we won the CL. Out of maximum 4 honours, we were challenging for 2. Premiership wise we were poor, 37 points behind Cheski and the previous season 30 points behind arsenal. again it was Ged's team.

2nd season just begun. we have shipped out some deadwood and bringing in players rb wanted. so far, we have only played 2 premiership games and unlike the barcodes and the self proclaimed best team in merseyside, we have yet to lose and concede none. rb has collected his second silverware. we are in the group stage of the CL. we are still challeging for honours on all front.

yeah it is quite depressing.

His signings i agree have disappointed me,but then again so did Houlliers, and so did Souness's.But to get rid of a bloke who in his first season got us to the final of the cc,and also win the european cup is
very short sight and down right rediculous
