As I said before we should go for Kyle Naughton off Sheff U if we want a fast attacking fullback, or Richards if we want a solid defender. We could probably buy them both for the price of Johnson!

As for Arbeloa, I think its a disgrace that we have AGAIN let a player get into the last year of his contract. We will probably finish up paying over the odds for a new full back and get much less than Arbeloa is worth.

 They want to buy a player for 18 Million that they sold for 4 Million, priceless.

It all comes down to what Johnson wants, if he wants the big pay cheque he will go back to Chelsea, if he still holds a grudge for the way he was treated there then he signs for us ( unless Raffa doesnt even want him and gives him the Keane treatment  :D )

Good shout that saint, looks like he is going to be a very good player that Naughton.

And Richards will get back to where he was, or at least be a very capable player.

Competition at chels = bosingwa

Competition at Liverpool = 0

Given the reported huge transfer/wages he'll be getting from us , you'd like to think that for footballing reasons he would choose lfc ???

I've never even heard of Kyle Naughton S@int never mind seen him play, so I'll have to take your word for him being a good little player.

As for Johnson and the straight choice between us and Chelsea, I'm not sure he will have Boswinga as competition as I think they'll sell him. I think he is another one who wasn't ideally suited to our brand of football, although he is obviously a good player. If we had a more creative right midfielder I'd be advocating getting that Ivanovic bloke if Chelsea are so interested in Johnson. He'd score half a dozen goals a season from attacking corners in the air.

If it's a straight choice, Johnson will probably have a look at how he is likely to be treated by the two clubs in question and just go with his gut feeling. Hopefully he's not a close friend of Robbie Keane :D

Haha.. if Chelsea want him for 18mill they can have him as far as im concerned... maybe we could bid 18mill and get Bosingwa... Better than Johnson going forward and much better defending... didnt he man mark the living :censored: out of Messi twice in the champs league or am i mistaken ?!
Anyways Eboue would be a good shout.. the Srna guy from Shakhtar or whatever theyr called who won the Uefa cup looks good going forward... Miguel from Valencia should be a cheap option and im sure he'd want a new challenge since he hasnt been having a good time with Valencia recently... Oh and the leftback from Atletico who has been playing right back, A.Lopez looked decent against us when we played them and is/was (im not sure if he still is) a Spanish international... good player with a banging cross...
Plenty of options out there for cheaper... wouldnt be the end of the world if we missed out

it's all very well listing a bunch of names from leagues around europe , but isn't nationality important here ? we need to have english players in place for 2010

it makes players like barry, johnson more sought after and therefore more valuable

I think he is talking about the quota of home grown players, but I did not know it is coming into force next year.

6+5, in whichever form it evolves into, will be coming in shortly, like it or not...

Dont think so... UEFA wouldnt make such a decision without making sure the big clubs would be okay with it first.. even then, such decisions would usually atleast take a few years after being decided on to actually be implemented.... Definitely shouldn't be deciding on who to get based on that...

I for one would be happy if this is true... Johnson, Bosingwa ? why the fck are Chelsea even going after him ? if theres any chance theyd be willing to consider selling Bosingwa to us it would be a good deal for us...
