Or walk away mate, once the price gets more than you think the player is worth .....you walk away.

Who else would we sign if Arby still wants to go? He effectivley forced Rafas hand didn't he?

Glen Johnson's anticipated £18m switch to Liverpool has been put on hold with the main negotiating figures on their holidays.
The Anfield outfit remain quietly confident of winning the race for the England right-back ahead of Manchester City and Chelsea.

But everything is on pause with both Rafa Benitez and Johnson on their summer break.

In addition, Peter Storrie has been in Israel since Monday, discussing tabled bids with Sacha Gaydamak.

Sounds like Parry's still around!

If we really wanted him surely they could all get to a fax to get this completed. If Storrie's in Israel discussing tabled 'bids' then it doesn't sound like we're the only ones in for him.

I'll be happy when it's confirmed but at the moment i'm not overly confident it's a done deal.

If Storrie is discussing other bids then that means we are not set to get him?

I can't believe Rafa would be just onm holiday also. He would be on the phone getting it done still.

It says he is discussing tabled bids, not "other" bids.
There is only us and city in it anyway, who else would be willing to pay close to 20mill for him?
Dont judge a book by the cover, unless you cover just another, because blind exceptance is a sign,

Talk about sorting our merchandising out . Abit quick of the mark there aren't we . Have just had a look and he is on there.

Put your shirt on Johnson joining Reds
by Tom Adams , 17 June 2009

Liverpool appear to have let slip their successful pursuit of Portsmouth defender Glen Johnson by including his surname for shirt printing on their online store.

It has been widely reported that Rafa Benitez has secured a £17 million deal for the England international but neither club has yet commented on the rumours.

However, the fact that ‘Johnson TBC’ appears on a drop-down menu to choose shirt personalisation on Liverpool’s official online store suggests that a transfer is imminent, if not completed already.

Chelsea and Manchester United were also reported to have bid for the right back, who begun his career with West Ham before earning a move to Stamford Bridge in the early days of Roman Abramovich’s reign.

Having seemingly turned his back on a return to West London, Johnson should now become Liverpool’s first significant capture of what could be a busy summer at Anfield.

The news of Johnson’s imminent arrival is not the first time that replica shirts have made headlines.

Paul Ince famously angered West Ham fans when being pictured with a Manchester United shirt before his move to Old Trafford had been sealed and Robinho revealed in January that he moved to Manchester City after Real Madrid were angered by Chelsea’s decision to publish a photo of him on their official website.

A lad on rawk who's pretty :censored: hot for sources also say's that it's a done deal . Rafa was back in Liverpool today and Johnson has given him his word that he will sign . Everything is agreed , but there's just an issue with a thigh strain or something that will be looked at during the medical .

I thought they accepted our bid? So there is still a chance he might not sign for us?

Rather than pay 17Mil for Johnson we could have had a look in the Championship and found ourselves someone not far off Johnson’s quality for a fraction of the price. £17Mil really is daylight robbery, and just like Keane, Johnson will be found wanting at this level.

More money down the drain.
