Yes, I did and I stand by what I said. The lads got plenty of ability... whats your point? The fact he hasn't yet settled and found a consistent playing level and won a regular place in the side after 3 months?

Penannt has settled in, and atm he is playing to the limit of his ability. He is doing exactly what he was doing last season which is refusing to take on full backs and putting countless crosses into the box which pose no goal threat unless the opposition make a mistake.

What complete and utter rubbish.

Pennant has shown in flashes what he can do, against Galatasary away, skins two players and assists Fowler's goal. He was very good and positive the other day against Fulham aswell after the chance he should have scored from.

People are critisising his crossing and to be honest, they are showing a distinct lack of knowledge.

Pennant has looked petrified on the pitch due to pressure, in much the same way Bellamy had untill recently. Both have finally started to relax. The problem is neither Kuyt or Bellamy are ever going to get the best out of Pennant. People go on about players complimenting each other IE two strikers, well it works all over the pitch, yet the clueless can't understand that... Strikers and wingers also need to compliment each other, whats the point in having a winger (like Pennant) when the neither forward is a poacher or can even head a ball?

The fact is Pennant can cross all day long and Kuyt and Bellamy still aren't going to attack the ball, they still aren't going to score headers and front post efforts where they read the flight of the ball better than the defender.

Its no coincidence that Pennant has directly set up half of Robbie Fowler's (a natural goalscorer who thrives of service from wide players) goals so far this season.

Pennant isn't world class and I actually now believe I overated him slightly in terms of going outside a man and pacebut only slightly... I have however certainly seen enough from the lad to suggest he's good enough to make an impact playing for us and even to hold down a regular first team place and improve the team.

I would love to see Harry Kewell back on the left with Pennant on the right and Gerrard and Alonso in the middle.
