Cisse off? - Should we sell him?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby redsince2001 » Wed Dec 07, 2005 3:08 pm

A month ago i would have replied in the  negative but after his disgraceful attitude and performances for us over the past month i would have to sell him......even in jan if the right offer comes probably from france(many admireres of him there).
He hangs around the entire match to get a goal scoring oppurtunity and makes faces if he is not provided by one and his overall contribution to the
game is almost always null!Instead of working hard in the field and fighting for his place he seems to be always wineing ....sell him ASAP.

Like I mentioned before in another thread, I will certainly not be a big loss if we do decide to cut our losses and shipped him back to France. We have many players who can play as forwards with Garcia, Kewell, and Zenden, all being able to play as the supporting striker role. Besides I would not be too surprised if Pongolle gets the nod ahead of Cisse regularly due to his good attitude and his apparent technical skill that Cisse lacks. Although Cisse contributes to the score sheet more than our other strikers, he does not offer much, lazes around the too much, refuses to track back, has no team play in him, and moaning and groaning at anything that does not goes his way. He is certainly doing himself no good by antagonizing Rafa everytime a well-thought out substitution go against his way.

If some team comes up with anything more than 7 million, I'd say accept the bid, cut our lossess, and at least recoup half of what we loss for such a bad buy that could be comparable to Houllier's El-Hadji Diouf (After all, Cisse was also his very purchase ). The cash could then be spent in other more essential positions, notably the ring wing and a back-up for our ever solid Sami and Carra.

If he goes, it is no big loss but we will be very short on strikers and will probably get a cup-tied striker for the CL. We did it before last season and for Benitez to sell Cisse in January must mean he has a lot of faith in the remaining strikers to do the job in Europe.

Somehow, I can't imagine French clubs having a lot of money to bid an amount which is satisfactory for Cisse.

When you read this quote from Rafa, you understand why Cisse is not in Rafa's long term plans:

"I like good professionals, not what some people call 'star' players. My idea of a star player may be different to others. When I tell Steven Gerrard I need him to play on the right, and he does this to the best of his ability, that defines him as a star player in my eyes.

"I don't like players who only play for themselves.

They are selfish. It's those who understand the needs of the team who are the best".

Rafa also said Cisse was a big star at Auxurre its a small club, he's at a big club now and he never had to defend before or work for the team.
The thing is though had he not got that injury would it have been possible for Raffa to change the way Cisse plays and change his mentality, the injury hasnt helped cause he never goes into a tackle, which is Physiological no doubt.

Its not to late for him to change and his whole game play would benefit from it.
But I dont think Rafa will spend time converting him TBH.

There are so many things Cissé lacks, but most importantly he has no footballing talent whatsoever....

I feel bad to be so hard on him, because he is one of us of course, but the facts are he is an awful footballer

Shocking first touch, extremely erratic, needs 50 chances before he scores 1, extremely poor decission making, so bad in fact It makes me want to cry....He has no skill....He has nothing!

The only thing he does well is run, but even when he runs with the ball it's not good either....

There is nothing more anyone can do with Cissé to improve him, if you're not born with talent, there's not much you can do....

I think it will be best for both parties if he where to go back to France where he was a star....He's no way near good enough to be a Liverpool player....

Cissé would be happy and Benítez would be happy....

It's the whinging about playing out of position that is really getting on my goat with Cisse. I mean Gerrard has come out and said that he'd much rather play centrally than out on the right but that he's willing to play wide right now for the good of the team. Carragher has had to play full seasons at Right-Back, Left-Back and now finally is being played in his best position. Cisse has had to play less than half a season on the right wing and complains about it.

he should be more respectful and sacrifice a bit more for the good of the squad. OK, he surely wants to go to the world cup with France and play as a Striker but after January he shouldn't be needed as a winger. If he hasn't got the commitment to play where he is told to and do it with 100% conviction, then I don't blame Rafa for not committing to playing Cisse every week and wanting to sell him.

Its amazing how quickly he is falling from grace, after his comeback from injury and that night in Istanbul , talk about selling him early in the season brought howls of derision, but he certainly seems to be going down the Baros path now

if you put crespo or eto'o at the right side of the pitch they won't be very happy, if you ask crouch to play at the centre of the defense he'll be disapointed. cisse is a striker, the only way to judge him is to look how many goals he scored. i'm sorry but i can't imagine trezeguet playing at the left side of a defense, if you're a striker you're a striker, you know what i mean?

Yes, but raffa wont do anything like that unless he feels it is the best option

Carra and big Sami are playing awesome, putting crouch there would be stupid. Same with the crespo and eto'o analogy. We needed someone capable of the right wing role, and Cisse was the best option for a while - or so rafa thought. Do what the club needs, not for your own aspiration. Thats what raffa wants and what everyone else wants too

Looked uninterested when he came on today, had one good run and got a corner, and that was all in about 10 mins of play. His work rate is non-existent. Seriously looks on his way out  in January.
