Can't remember who it was against, but it was one of Boumsong's first league games at St James' and he was immense.

You might be overestimating the "power" inferred by being champions of europe .Financial considerations aside, I didn't see a posse of top players become suddenly desperate to sign for Porto when they won it.

interesting point that mate, but we have the added bonus of being a really successful club in the past as well as this. There was a stage about 4 years ago when houllier bought a few players from all over the place n they all said they were "liverpool" fans when they were youngsters. This shows that players all around the world hold an admiration for liverpool football club and to be frank who wouldn't want to play for a team with a past as glorious as ours?

I think its possible that some of those player who were Liverpool fans when they were younger were actually sucking up to the fans.

Who are the best players that have already gone? Del Horno[to Chelsea] and Park[to Man Utd]?

I didn't say he wasn't but do we really need him?

Del Horno is at Chelsea because Chelsea offered him a lot more money, but we don't want to break the bank for one player. 8 million pounds isn't a lot but his wages are high.

So I don't know what Lakes is getting at, there's plenty of good players out there that will suit our style of play. All this "we don't have time or money" sh1t is doing my head in.
