If its france v germany final - Who england cheer for

International Football/Football World Wide - General Discussion

Postby Big Niall » Tue Jul 04, 2006 8:39 am

I remember two world cup finals in a row where it was Germany versus Argentina and I'm sure England fans didn't have a clue who to cheer for so I was wondering if it was Germany versus France (or even Portugal now I guess) who would you cheer for.

I thought English people disliked the French more but my brother in law who lives in England says Germany are disliked more.

Well who would you cheer for? (and no obvious jokes about final cancelled, bombs etc)

Hope the Germans win it, lovely country and very nice people apart from when they put their towels on all the sunbed round the pool on holiday :D

I hope football's the winner Niall.
:D
Joking aside, I hope the team that plays the better football wins.  All the diving and 'simulation' is really starting to ruin the game, and some teams just haven't gelled either.  If France play like they did against Brazil, I'll be rooting for them, they were excellent.  If they play like they did in their opening two games (v Switzerland and S.Korea)  I'll be rooting for Germany.

I could never understand that Americanism..."rooting" for a team.  Does anyone else draw conotations from this expression or am I the only one with the filthy mind??  Besides my wife won't let me root anyone else, let alone an entire nation!!!  :wwww

I think I'll just support Germany.    :D

i can see this aswell. the game needs germany to score first otherwise the italians will just shut the game out after taking the lead.

All i can say is "Allez les Bleus"--  c'mon France, after Zidane's mesmeric performance against Brazil, he cemented my belief that he has been the greatest player in the world for the past 10 years, and surely one of the top 5 of all time. Just awesome.  Im sure we could find a spot for him at Anfield if he changes his mind

I may lean towards France only because of Zidane who is just world class.  Cool, calm, collected. Surely one player who we will really miss when he retires.

Whooooooooo great YNWA after the game  :buttrock
Shame the Germans are out but I want Portugal to beat France tomorrow not that I like Portugal but Id love to see the Portugese get a hammering from the Ities and Ronaldo cryin his eyes out again.  :buttrock
I dont like the French or the portugese, and the Italians are the far superiror team left in it, infact I said to me mum this mornin Im glad Englands gone home we would have been beaten by France anyway and our player would have still been stuck in that stupid name of a place Baden Baden.

Just one cornetto ......... :buttrock
