David villa - Got the lot

The problem is that Spanish players don't often make it in England.  Rafa may be the exception to the rule as he seems to have the knack of getting them to integrate.  However Villa will be very expensive and you will face stiff opposition for his signature, is he worth that much of a gamble?  Look at El Moro, he arguably had the better attributes to make it in the EPL but failed terribly.  Luque is another although never in the same class.

I agree with that assessment, but because he's the flavor of the month at the moment people want us to sign him.

Spanish players have only really been plying their trade in the epl over the past 4-5 years so it's a bit of a generalisation to say they can't make it. The same applies to many of the French and Italian players over the years. Some adapt, some don't.

Not sure i buy into Morientes being the more suited to the epl although hindsight is a wonderful thing. Moro turned out to be a little too lightweight in the epl and this allied to his lack of pace to scare defenders made things difficult for him. Villa looks far more suited to the game over here. He's got a few English traits in him. He looks like a bullish player with a low centre of gravity and defo looks a stronger and quicker player than Moro. Far more than flavour of the month as far as i'm concerned. No doubt there would be a lot of competition for his signature (certainly more than there was for Moro) but if the money is there (and we don't know how much) then i would love Rafa to buy this guy.

Pepe is a f*cking awesome stopper, and to suggest we get shut or replace him is possibly the most bizarre and unintentionally hilarious thing I have read on here in a good long while.

Spot on Lando. I wouldn't say awesome, over the line of goal, is quite good, but his distribution and kicks makes him a very good stopper, one of the best in the premiership, me thinks!

When he came I thought he was an Ok keeper with special ability to stop penalties, but I must say I'm happy with what he has provided.

i agree pepe is one of if not the best keeper in the prem espeacially if you take into account his age, some people forget he is still young for a keeper because of his balding head lol

Villa's on sky text today saying he visited anfield recently & spoke to Rafa, he went on to say how great the atmosphere was etc, and added 'but I have just signed a new contract with a very large buyout clause'. Sounds like he might be regretting it a bit?

I dont think so.  I think his just saying his under contract to Valencia and its up to them on whether he goes or not.  It wouldnt be right if he said "I want to leave Valencia and play for Liverpool" after just signing a brand new contract.

David Villa has admitted there are several Premiership clubs that appeal to him.

The Spanish striker was once again linked with a move away from Valencia in the January transfer window but nothing materialised, as the player insisted he was not considering leaving.

Much of the speculation in recent months has centred on Chelsea, and Villa is happy to confess his admiration for the reigning Premiership champions.

But he admits he is also drawn to Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool.

"I am attracted to the strength of Chelsea and the pace and mobility of Arsenal, especially at home," Villa told The Times.

"Everybody loves Manchester United - they have played some of the best football in Europe for a long while, maintaining a good defensive discipline.

"Liverpool are like Valencia - a team full of heart, good at the back with a midfield of quality and built so it is very difficult to beat them."

Villa also believes the Premiership is home to some of the world's best players, including Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard and Cristiano Ronaldo.

He explained: "Because of the way football is played now, there are not many players like Cristiano Ronaldo in the world - brilliant in one-on-ones.

"Lampard has got lots of quality in his passing and covers lots of ground.

"He and Gerrard are two of the best midfielders in the world because they mix quality and physical presence."

Valencia are not expected to part with Villa for anything less than a gigantic sum, but Liverpool, Chelsea and Real Madrid are reportedly leading the chase for his signature.

He doesnt have to say anything at all though and obviously has.
Lets put it this way, he has hardly quashed any rumours with that statement.

No they are not but after signing a new contract, you do not then say u want to leave.  Villa could go but its going to cost a lot of money.

I would love Alves but again his going to sign a new contract and his side could win La Liga.  At the least they will be in the CL so I dont think Dani Alves will be in a huge rush to leave.

You guys are seriously making too much out of this. Maybe you should read these articles and the quotes attributed to him...

"I don't have any ambition to play abroad."

In the end, who knows how he really feels. Just saying, don't make something out of nothing...
