David beckham, - Clueless.

First off the article:

David Beckham confronts LA Galaxy fan after he is booed at football match.

David Beckham got involved in an ugly confrontation with fans at his home return game in Los Angeles.

The former England captain attempted to jump over a barrier as he left the field at half-time to remonstrate with a section of the crowd that had been jeering him.

He was held back by security staff, members of whom were also needed to restrain an angry fan who left his seat and rushed towards the footballer.

Beckham received a less than friendly welcome at his first home game for LA Galaxy after returning from a five-month loan spell at AC Milan - the team LA faced.

A hardcore section of the crowd booed Beckham every time he touched the ball and held aloft signs reading "Go Home Fraud" and "23: Repent" in reference to his shirt number.

Another read: "Hey Becks, Here Before You, Here after You, Here Despite You" while one stated: "Is evil something u are...or something u do?"

Earlier this year, Beckham indicated he wanted to stay in Milan rather than return to America, stating that the standard of play was far higher in Italy.

The apparent snub has angered some LA fans, notably a hardcore that sit in the so-called LA Riot Squad section.

Throughout the first half of the game he was subjected to jeers and obscene chants.

After the referee blew for half time, Beckham tried to hurdle an advertising boarding and appeared to make a "come on" gesture towards fans.

In response, one man left his seat, jumped down onto the pitch and attempted to run towards Beckham. At this point security intervened and escorted Beckham to the changing room, while removing the fan from the pitch.

Despite the incident, Beckham returned in the second half. He was the last man to take to the pitch and hugged several of his former AC Milan teammates before gesturing towards the rowdy section of the crowd.

A line of yellow-jacketed security staff stood below the supporters in the trouble area as a precaution.

In the 65th minute Beckham assisted in the scoring of an LA Galaxy goal. After doing so he turned and shrugged his shoulders in the direction of the section of crowd that had been jeering him.

Beckham was substituted in the 75th minute and walked off to a mixture of cheers and boos. The friendly match ended 2-2.

Beckham claimed he had tried to shake a supporter's hand.

"The majority of the fans have been great," Beckham said afterwards in comments broadcast on Sky Sports News.

On the boos, he added: "It's to be expected. Sometimes it goes beyond it. I tried to shake one of the guy's hands but he didn't want any of it. That's the way it is."

Some fans later accused Beckham of betraying the club.

Answer to one question raised with my mates.

Q. Does he really walk around with his head up his own backside?

A. Yes.

Didnt Beckham realise at one point he would have to answer for his money grabbing ways? Didnt he realise when he moved to america, for the contract he was given, and the sponsorship, and the mega rich deals he was offered that at one point he would have to honour that contract?

We have seen during the summer Beckham wearing nothing but undies, that would be LA Galaxy honouring their part of the contract. With the cap in wages, other opportunities arise. The underwear contract being one of them. Beckham clearly understands this, as he models and attends the ceremonies. But it appears, he wanted the deals, but not the playing thing. He didnt want to play in a yank league, and so joined milan.

And even now he is clueless as to why they are booing him !

But, as ignorant as he is, money will be thrown at him. And for me David Beckham is the catalyst for todays game. Do the basics well. Live a superstar lifestyle and the questions will rise and fall.
Who is more foolish, me for milking my way of life, or the fools who will pay for me?

Welcome to todays footballers. Dumb as a mule, but rich as hell.

I'm not sure what the fuss is about really. Everyone knew he was in LA for the money. He played for Milan on loan during the off-season in order to keep his fitness up and play for England.

Suddenly the US fans are up in arms because he says their league isn't as good as Italy? Well duh...

I saw the footage on the BBC website and some guy was complaining about Beckham losing control. Some guy in the crowd yelled obscenities at him, Beckham called him out and the guy responded. Why fans think they have a right to shout real abuse and get away with it is beyond me.

I don't really like Beckham and think he could have been a better player than he was if he'd focussed on football more than pop stars and fashion. I don't think he's too in the wrong over this though. If anything he's brought more attention and publicity to the MLS through this spat than the rest of the players put together

I agree with Beckham's reaction. If LA Galaxy fans truly believe that Beckham was going to treat them as his number one priority they're the definition of naive.

LA Galaxy signed him for merchandising. The type of player he is was never going to set the MLS world alight. He's too boring for the American public, they want fast paced action all the time. Beckham's game was, and is, always about distribution and delivery.

interesting that Landon Donovan did the same thing with Bayern this winter, only Becks impressed more and as such Milan wanted to keep him for the rest of the season. If a team like Milan want to keep you, you are going to want to stay.  Milan still had to pay a decent amount of money just to have him on loan for a couple more months, including playing that friendly in LA which I am sure Galaxy made some money off of.

The beginning of the season doesn't even matter in MLS.  Galaxy have played 8 games and only won 6, yet they find themselves 4th in the table. We don't even care about the league campaign in America anyway, all that matters is winning in the playoffs.

Ive quoted Bammo and SouthCoastShankly for the reason I totally disagree. Beckham is in the wrong. He has signed a contract with LA Galaxy. Now regardless of what anyone outside of the USA think of that league, he has signed a contract. He has reaped the rewards and now wants to walk away. Lets not forget when he first joined, he was constantly injured. When he got fit he played in a few games, had a holiday then off to Milan. For the sum paid for him, he owes LA Galaxy more than what he has given them. He generally wants the cake and to eat it. He should honour his contract, he signed it, he should honour it.
