Am I the only one who wants to know why he thinks we need a new goalkeeper?

I thought that was pretty self explanitory...

I want us to have a good one, not an overrated one.

But isn't our goal keeper good? Even though he is overrated by some? Can't we ignore that?

As with all players, if a better one is available we should go for them? If they are doing the job we should support, but be on the lookout for improvement?

Don't exaggerate SCS  Stu has only castigated Johnson, Lucas, Skrtel, Mingolet, Allen and Cissoko who is terrible but that is beside the point. Sturridge hasn't escaped criticism either. Look on the bright side Stu does like Luis  Sorry Stu but you don't half like a good moan. What are you like if you miss a three foot put? The team is far from perfect but 6 points from the top is a cracking effort with what we have available. Rome was rebuilt in a day !!!!!!!

Funny you should bring that up, my mate has a fantastic picture of me missing exactly that on Tuesday and you can clearly see the club flying through the air and the look of aggression on my face!

On a different note, SCS is right, once a player has proven he's not up to it then I do tend to believe they aren't up to it rather than deluding myself into believing that Skrtel, Lucas and Johnson are "the best in the league at what they do"... which I've heard about all three players....

Even though the reality is all three players could be replaced and improved upon with about 60-80% of players in the their positions in the league.

Mignolet was bought as a good keeper...he is a good keeper......who has over rated him.....
Reina was a good keeper who lost his way during his last 2 seasons...reina wanted a change and he did, just not the move he wanted or anticipated....any discussion about how we would have faired with Reina in goal is purely hypothetical and has no relevance in fact.....Mignolet has gained more points for us than he has lost so he is doing ok ... personally I don't think Reina would have achieved any better ....

Yeah me too, I've no doubt gerrard is good enough to learn the position but just how long is that going to take?
Our pressing game (which was a huge factor in our performances against spurs and city) practically disintergrates when he's in the team. He just has no concept or no intuitive feel for when to press aggressively or when to drop off.
That 6th sense of knowing when to press is the only thing Lucas has over Gerard, but it just so happens that how we play without the ball has quickly become instrumental to our success, when we press well we look a hell of a side, but conversely when our pressing game isn't working so well we look a shambles.

Agree that Gerrard wasn't up to snuff against Stoke and I've commented in the Stoke match thread that Gerrard was maybe trying to hard. I do however believe that Stevie has all the technical qualities to succeed in BR's envisioned role provided he can apply the right mindset and not always look for the "hollywood" ball.

Call me sentimental but I also think that those who are quick to jump on a man who admittedly is in decline but has virtually carried this team for the last five seasons can all f'uck of

Steven George Gerrard is already a f'ucking legend for this club up there with any others you care to name and HE'S NOT FINISHED YET !

That is what i have always said. He needs to realise that he can not do the job he has always done he would be a fantastic CDM if he would just do that job and not try and put out these "hollywood" passes or attempt to play box to box

Like the goalkeeper, most of the defence and adding another midfielder so Allen and Henderson don't have to play every game and Lucas never has to play!
