Agreed. He actually questioned why a ref from "Greater Manchester" was allowed to ref the game which is critical of the FA. You are never going to win that one.

Woof, loads of people are saying this but I'm sorry I can't agree.

Mason is from Bolton, if you know your geography, Bolton is as close to Manchester as St Helens is to Liverpool pretty much, and parts of the Wirral also.

Can you imagine the FA allowing Chris Foy or Mike Dean to referee Liverpool at home against any of the top six sides? Am telling you now mate, it wouldn't happen.

The decision to allocate that match to Mason was a disgrace. To then allocate us Webb straight after that game was only really going to end up us talking about referee's.

Mason is usually card happy and inconsistent with his calls (also from the area) and Webb is quite simply a biased Manc who should never be allowed to referee a Liverpool game as long he lives.

If I remember rightly, Chris Foy was due to referee our 2006 FA Cup final against West Ham but wasn't allowed to when we got there.

However that doesn't change the fact that the useless tw@ts that are the FA have once again charged someone for pointing out a problem rather than actually dealing with the problem itself.

As it happens I do know my geography Stu and still think that Rodgers would have done better to have concentrated on highlighting the officials performance in the game rather than have a whine inferring that there was maybe some bias because of the ref's place of origin. The refs from Bolton, so f'ucking what ?  it doesn't automatically mean he supports Man City .

thats what i`m saying though, rodgers had a go at mason questioning why a ref from greater manchester was managing a city game when in general mason wasnt that bad, yeah he gave a load of petty free kicks city`s way but he didnt award one single pen to city when infact the way skrtel was carrying on he could have easily given them half a dozen.
as i said it was the linesman who f##ked up regarding the sterling off side decision, not the ref.
during the chelsea game decisions went both for and against us, eto`o could have easily been sent off for his challenge on hendo (but to be fair to webb not many refs would send a player off 1 minute 44 seconds into such a big televised game) and eto`o should have given a penalty away too for his challenge on luis.
on the other hand though lucas`s challenge on hazard could have easily been given and no doubt skrtel had one or two chelsea players in a figure of 4 leg lock or a boston crab at various points of the game and they could have been given too.
actually given the media attention given to skrtel`s grappling in the box i`m actually surprised a ref hasnt given in to the media pressure and awarded a pen against us.
it is frustrating when decisions go against us but it hasnt been all one way traffic, a few decisions have gone our way too.

I wasn't having a pop Woof saying you don't know your geography, that was meant as a passive comment...

And I agree that's not who he supports... but he should not have been placed in charge of that game as you can bet your bottom dollar he'll know people, maybe even family who will support one of the clubs.

My point is also that I agree partially with Yakka, he missed a lot of decisions in that game for both sides and it wasn't his fault on the offside... the fact still remains though that Foy or Mike Dean would never referee Liverpool at home to one of the other big sides... so why was this allowed to happen? To be honest, rather Mason than Webb just about (don't rate Mason) but generally he's not biased.

I think that you guys are forgetting how horrible Mason was and not just his lines-man. He made decisions based on the crowd's reactions (no wonder Rodgers mentioned the fact that he's from Greater Manchester) which is totally unprofessional. Maybe he didn't have too many bad big decisions like Webb but he gave them everything which was understandably frustrating for our players and manager.

But he wasn't short of big decisions either. The one that got me angry the most was when he awarded City a free-kick because of a Lucas' handball. Lucas had his arms right next to his body and the ball was just a few inches away from him before Zabaleta kicked it into his arm. He gave City the free-kick and we conceded a corner from which we conceded the second goal. There's also the situation when Kompany pushed Suarez inside the penalty area or when Lescott elbowed Suarez in his back at the edge of the box. Mason laughed at both situations as if he's saying "you're not fooling me".

That wasn't nearly as bad as Webb though. He sees that Suarez is being kicked in the knee and he has a very good view of it but decides not to give anything and points with his finger like "I see what you're doing there, it's not going to work". I mean, OK, I understand when refs get it wrong when they don't have a good view of it or are too far or there are too many players around. I get it, they don't have the replays like we do and they are allowed a mistake every now and then. But it is really beyond me how can a man make it as a ref yet not give a blatant foul that's worthy of at least a yellow card while he's standing in an ideal position to see the whole thing. Absolutely no excuse for that horrible performance.

It's either that the refs of this generation are not trained well enough or I'm right with my conspiracy theory

We scored 5 goals away at Stoke.  We have never won a League game on their patch.  Credit where it's due.  Well done boss. 

The "we'll score more than you" philosophy may be working.  It sure as phook isn't good for my health.
