Liverpool Football Club - Games

lucas was immense last weekend but today he was awful, it`s so obvious why him and gerrard often sit so deep, its because once someone dispossess them in midfield they just havent got the atheticism to get back goal side again.
i thought hendo was probably the pick of our mids, he didnt do a great deal but at least he got involved.
the keeper looked a bit shakey early on but there wasnt much he could do about the goals.
that result is a set back but it`s not terminal, we need to win next week against fulham though.
btw though neville was a bit harsh on coutinho, when he came on i thought we looked far more dangerous.

Very poor performance and this time Suarez or Sturridge didn't paper over the obvious cracks.

That game highlighted the areas where we are very weak - midfield- no creativity at all without Coutinho. Poor at the back through the middle and in the wide areas. Spent a good deal of money in the summer and the purchases/loans haven't improved the overall standard. Cissohko is a poor poor footballer. Sahko looks very dodgy , Mignolet flapping again and shocking with the ball at his feet. Totally outplayed today and it was waiting to happen.

Now we need to get rid of the three at the back - it exposes us. Cissohko shouldn't wear the shirt again - send him back to Valencia.

Play a front three with Suarez , Coutinho and Sturridge.

And cross out fingers that our midfield holds out until Jan where we must make some purchases. The season starts now - big games coming up that will shape the season

he was saying coutinho`s passing was very sloppy, as if it`s easy to open up a defence like  ???

You people are a bit overcritical. Arsenal just wanted it more and got a bit lucky (both of their goals were lucky IMO). We were awful but they weren't THAT better than us.

No excuse for the extremely poor performance by Gerrard (in particular), Sturridge and Suarez though. Lucas wasn't much better either and the fullbacks were the worse of the bunch but nobody should have expected too much from them.

We shouldn't let this get into our heads though. We played away against the league leaders and we've always struggled against Arsenal anyway.

Both their goals where quality finishes after great movement found their players space. What exactly was lucky about them ? They were that much better than us. - their creativity in the middle was very very good - ours was non exsistant

Gerrard was out of the game today , coutinho wasn't able to play correctly a corner kick :/ and he played alot of wrong passes
Henderson ?!!! ...
And poor defence ! In the second goal for Arsenal they give him all the time to shoot !
Poor game
when we don't have what we love, we must love what we have!

Very disappointing to watch this game. I had high hopes that we would be able to pull out a surprise but reality struck and we were exposed today. We'll be lucky to get a top 4 finish if this game sets the tone for the rest of the season.

The midfield is a major concern for me. Gerrard is rubbish, and has been pretty rubbish for a while now. Henderson, well his miss in the first half where we was running at their defense with no one marking him and he screwed the shot, that sums him up. Lucas did all he could possibly do as a DM and he cannot be faulted in any way. He tried. I can't say the same about Gerrard.

It's nice to see Coutinho back, and Flanagan did alright too. But we ought to drop the 5-3-2 as there's no creativity whatsoever. Guess seeing the players available, it would make most sense to have a 4-4-2 with Moses, and Coutinho or Sterling on the wings. Or if BR is brave enough, Coutinho and Lucas in the middle with Moses and Sterling on the wings.

Oh please, Cazorla's header hit the post and went right back at his foot. Ramzey scored a half volley from 20 yards out with the ball going right under the crossbar while he had 3 players around him. Players usually sky those. The goals were lucky.

Also, we got screwed by Atkinson when he didn't let us take a quick free-kick because he wanted to show that mug Sagna a yellow card  :glare:

On another day, things would have been different, I'm sure.

So when a player hits a great strike and goes in it's now lucky ? Carzola movement for his initial header was great and the technique for the return volley was superb.

to be fair that header off the post could have rebounded anywhere but it fell right into cazorla`s path, good finish though.
ramsey`s goal was an excellent strike but you score 1 or 2 of those a season if you are lucky.

Dude...our midfield is rubbish. Henderson, Lucas and Gerrard vs Arteta, Ozil, Ramsey and Cazorla. No contest!

Arsenal is and has always been the better team. We're just overrated and this position the club is in now on table is just a mere facade of how bad we truly are.

They weren't fluke goals but you need a bit of luck to score those. They had it, they scored and they won. On a different day it would be a different story.

Drama queens. We couldn't beat Arsenal in our best days, never mind now, when they're better than us. The game wasn't THAT bad and it changes nothing.
