i dont mind him. but raises the question of why and where is he gonna play. if its left back, why not phillip lahm. if its central mid, then why not stick to the 4 or 5 we have now.

Because alonso is off key and barry is one of the most consistent performers in the premier league , great left leg and is a up and coming england star

Might not a bad idea actually for Rafa to shore up the team with some British legcrunchers.

I've felt for some time that we lack some musclepower.

I dont think Barry is better than Alonso so we will be replacing him with an inferior player.

Gareth Barry will be a decent buy for us.  He's been consistant and is versatile which is a good thing.  I think he is the type that would go in for a scrap and win the ball each time.

Anyone know whether we will put in a bid for David Bentley?

my thoughts as well.

I like barry. he's a good footballer, but i can only think this spells the end for alonso. I would really like to see lahm here as well.

:laugh: , made me laugh that . An inferior player who's the captain of villa? , the same player that has been keeping hargreaves and lampard out of the england side? Sure the same player who has been 1 of the most consistent performers in the premier league

We're replacing alonso with a inferior player? Well wake up lad , that player has outshone alonso for the past 2 seasons and alonso is so off key now and unless he makes a dramatic recovery in the last 2 games provided he plays i'd rather we offload him
