I don't mind if he picks us only as a second choice.

If Anne Hathaway's first choice for a sexual partner was Brad Pitt, and her second choice was Manhattan, I'd be fine with that.

Would love to see Villa at Liverpool, I really would, he'd be the first name to partner Torres if it was up to me.

However, it will never happen, never ever ever

Hicks can spend loads of money.

The only problem is that eventually, the Royal Bank of Scotland will want it back.

what about joaquin or navas?  Are they worth the money to bring to Anfield?

Or Silva or Alves.  If we can reportedly offer 20 mill for Ribery why not one of these guys that is probably younger?

1) The reports that we've bid for Ribery appear to be very tenuous, you could say Uncle A. style.

2) Ribery is the same age as Daniel Alves, 25 years old.

Liverpool To Offer ₤20m For Ribery
Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez is reportedly preparing an ambitious bid for Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery…
The French international, widely tipped to star for Les Bleus at EURO 2008 next month, has catapulted himself to superstardom since his arrival in Bavaria last summer.

The 25-year-old journeyman is now recognised as one of the most dangerous wingers in the game, alongside the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

His performances for Bayern have alerted some of the biggest clubs in Europe, and reports from Germany claim Liverpool will offer ₤20 million for the former Marseille man.

Benitez is keen to strengthen his attacking options over the summer, and has been monitoring a number of wide players, including La Liga stars Maxi Rodriguez and Albert Riera.

Ribery’s ability to play right across the pitch will no doubt attract the former Valencia boss, as will the Frenchman’s supreme understanding with Bayern hitman Luca Toni.

Benitez is planning to build a team around star striker Fernando Torres, and Ribery could prove a stunning addition alongside Dutch youngster Ryan Babel and Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard in the Reds’ 4-2-3-1 formation.

However, as Bayern paid around ₤17 million for the former Marseille man only a year ago, Rafa and co may have to up their bid if they wish to prise one of Europe’s most exciting talents away from the Allianz Arena.

I really, really doubt Bayern will sell Ribery. I reckon our best hope is to try raiding Sevilla and Valencia, clubs who've failed to get CL football... oh, and Zaragoza got relegated, right? Aimar...

if he is as good as they say, then let's go for it.  That attacking force could be deadly.  Although he is the werewolf  :wwww

Precisely, very tenuous.  :nod

I don't think you have quite got the idea of rumours yet, rumours by their very nature are tenuous. The idea is you believe the ones you like and dismiss the ones you don't.

Ribery is a good  strong rumour, as he would be a great signing who can score goals from the wide areas, James Milner on the other hand is a poor rumour that obviously has no truth in it.

Au contraire, given that there haven't been any reasonably reputable sources linking us with him, it's fair to say at present the link is very tenuous. There hasn't been a consistent chain of sources linking us with him, that may come in time, but at present I haven't read a fairly reputable source linking us with him.

I'd love it, but it doesn't seem realistic, and the consistency of the rumour isn't apparent, yet.

Which means its the very definition of a rumour.  A piece of unverified information of uncertain origin usually spread by word of mouth :D
