Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Skrtel likes to go walkabouts at times and gets attracted to the ball on occasions but overall he's looking solid. Next year will be the test though because he probably won't have Hyypia's experince next to him as Agger should be fit. So two realtively young centre halves, won't have played much together, could be a diificult start for us next year. Still the early signs look promising.
1) You'll Never Walk Alone
2) pass and move is the Liverpool groove
3) FIRST WILL ALWAYS BE FIRST AND SECOND WILL ALWAYS BE NOTHING.
4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.

Excellent performance by the Turtle. Only had one or two not so great games since he came here.

One of his challenges last night was absolutely thunderous (I remember it was on the Kop end in right back position), he came through and got all ball and the player just got the f**k out of the way.  He is a no nonsense centre half with a good eye for the tackle.  Should be interesting how much of a look in he gets when Carra, Hyypia and Agger are fit though...

I have to be fair, what a signing he has been so far. Looked edgy against Havant & Waterlooville but since has been a fu.cking rock. Who else agrees?
The devil on the badge represents the equality of manchester united with satan and his many demoish minions downstairs. just like the many twisted devil worshipers accross the world it means you have to posess the same sick minded mentality to follow that pathetic excuse for a football team.

He does look good although his positioning on set pieces could be a bit better, but that could be him getting used to the zonal marking. I know Carras a great servant for the club but I think Skrtel & Agger are the future.

I think Skrtel has been solid enough.  I like his aggression and determination.  Seems good positionally, decent pace and likes a tackle.  However his weakness seems to be that he isn't great in the air - and that does concern me about any future partnership of Agger/Skrtel because they both have the same weakness.

Very impressed with Skrtel. Probably been more involved that he (and Rafa) thought when he signed. He's a solid centre half who also seems to have a decent football head as well. He is without doubt a long term replacememt for Carra.

The entire defence's positioning from set pieces is a problem, or perhaps the marking system employed is the real problem. He probably does prefer man to man marking given his type, makes you wonder why Rafa doesn't jacket in

An Absolute Bargain, I can see him being a future liverpool captain and also forming a great partnership with Agger when he comes back.

He is a decent defender, has looked sound since his signing, he has that "take no :censored: attitude" and is very tough in his tackle.

He's certainly come on since his inauspicious debut. This time next year will be a clearer indication if he has the potential to be an Anfield legend.

early signs are good however he didnt exactly play impressivly today, in fairness should of seen his first red card in a liverpool shirt, ashame cos he played so well against arsenal midweek

Havin said this the january signing of Skrtel now leaves me with a huge amount of confidence with rotation of the CB position. Carra and Agger when fit but this signing and the return of form for the mighty sami mean we have 4 quality CB's next season.

He probably got away with it yesterday because the ref didn't seem willing to do anything that might stir controversy. He turned every penalty appeal down, some I can only guess because the fouled parties made Ronaldo-esque meals of their falls, and he gave ONE yellow that could and maybe should have been a red.

It will be interesting to see who plays and where IF Agger is fit next season. Might even see Carra playing FB and Skrtel play alongside Agger from time to time

I watched the game yesterday and didn't see anything from Skrtel that merited a red card...

The guy is a snip at £6m and I can see him and Agger forging a very strong partnership for us for years to come.
