If you stuck a Hiddink type character in now (not actually Hiddink but someone with standing in the game, a good record etc etc) and he turned it around, three quarters of the fans wouldn't give him any credit as they'd say "Rafa would have done it, we shouldn't have sacked him". If we continued as we are now and finished half way in the league, they'd say "Rafa would have turned it around" etc etc.
Far better to simply let him get on with it and see where he takes us for the rest of the season. At the end of the season we can look where we are, see if we've added to his two trophies in five seasons, see if we've qualified for the Champions League or not, see how we compare against last season and our rivals then given everybodies relative net spend, see if we've managed to leap frog Sunderland in the league etc etc etc. That'll give us all a better idea where we are.
It will also mean crucially that should you decide to change the manager, you've got more chance of there being good ones available. If we don't win anything, I know people will ask the question "but who could we get that would possibly do as good a job". It's a fair question, but Purslow gets paid plenty of money so he'll be assigned the unenviable task of finding a manager who can match a record of no trophies in four seasons.

i think there would be a case of Rafa going and we just have sammy there till a new manager comes in around xmas with 25mil to spend.
what you learn when working for blue chip companies is that you never let a dead man walking carry on in his job to you find the new boss, you get ride of him then and there, it often save money and the team work tends to pick up.
at ML we had a guy that we all knew was going to get the sack, our boss put sacking him off for 10 weeks, in that time he lost ML 2mil.
ML only have themselves to blame.

Losing the amount of games we have so far this season is a disgrace, the next game...which we will lose...must end the incumbent managers tenure. I'm happy we've merited a top 8 in europe monica for the last few years but this has come to an end, we will not finish top 4 this year. We need a new perspective, I'm tired of Rafas dogmatic approach, zonal defending, Lucas, no subs till 70+ mins, surely sub decisions are based on in game merit?? not whatever time has elapsed? I have had enough, who have we beat? burnley bolton(just) its over for this guy, bring on Morihno or klinsmann. btw i was ashamed to be sat amongst people booing the other night, blimey wtf is going on.
