I dont think its the right time for Rafa to go but if we get beat at the weekend there will be a very big move to get rid of Rafa from the club......even after what GG said today.

Over the year some have said "rafa needs to win the next two game to save his job" well it seems this time it is true, if we dont win the next prem game and CL Rafa will be gone from this club, not sure it will be 100% the right thing to do but i can not see many backing if we go out of the cl and get beat by man u .

the only thing that could save Rafa is that there is no managers out there right now free to take this job( and if the are free to take the joob right now then that must tell you something how good they are)
if he is sacked i hope Sammy dont take over on his own, if it was to happen i would like to see Ian Rush to come in and help him till the new manager comes.

its very dark days for the club right now............strange that they look so dark if you just look at the results....as things on the money side just might to look a bit better very soon.

I'm not sure Lakes I think people have got a lot of this Rafa bashing off their chests this week and dont have particularly high expectations for this weekend anyway.

Getting rid now would leave the new bloke on a hiding to nothing. If you stuck a Hiddink type character in now (not actually Hiddink but someone with standing in the game, a good record etc etc) and he turned it around, three quarters of the fans wouldn't give him any credit as they'd say "Rafa would have done it, we shouldn't have sacked him". If we continued as we are now and finished half way in the league, they'd say "Rafa would have turned it around" etc etc.

Far better to simply let him get on with it and see where he takes us for the rest of the season. At the end of the season we can look where we are, see if we've added to his two trophies in five seasons, see if we've qualified for the Champions League or not, see how we compare against last season and our rivals then given everybodies relative net spend, see if we've managed to leap frog Sunderland in the league etc etc etc. That'll give us all a better idea where we are.

It will also mean crucially that should you decide to change the manager, you've got more chance of there being good ones available. If we don't win anything, I know people will ask the question "but who could we get that would possibly do as good a job". It's a fair question, but Purslow gets paid plenty of money so he'll be assigned the unenviable task of finding a manager who can match a record of no trophies in four seasons.

it will only be the tip of it if we go out of the CL.

In my view it would be better for him to walk than be sacked.

lets face it, igf we dont beat man u and go out of the CL something is going to happen at the club, if its not Rafa then Sammy, its been known for sometime that are not seeing eye to eye.

i think there would be a case of Rafa going and we just have sammy there till a new manager comes in around xmas with 25mil to spend.

what you learn when working for blue chip companies is that you never let a dead man walking carry on in his job to you find the new boss, you get ride of him then and there, it often save money and the team work tends to pick up.
at ML we had a guy that we all knew was going to get the sack, our boss put sacking him off for 10 weeks, in that time he lost ML 2mil.

ML only have themselves to blame.

What f*****g world are you living in lad? No matter who the manager is come Crimbo, whether it be Rafa, Hiddink, Mourinho, Reid, Redknapp, Daffy Duck or George Gillett himself, he will not be given 25 million to spend.

More likely to be 50% of it, nearer 12 million and even that would be considered generous by our pair of s**t owners.

I've said for a long time that as long as these yanks are in charge, Benitez will be largely shielded from critcism from Liverpool fans.

These two are destroying the club, no doubt about it.  They know it and they know we know it.  They don't care.  What they do care about is money.  As fans we will always feel disgust and hatred towards them and especially so now when things are going wrong on the pitch.  Now there is no doubt that their lumping of debt onto the club and the financial constraints that has caused has indirectly influenced our strength on the pitch.  We basically recouped as much as we spent this summer.  That said, they didn't make the decisions to spend all of the budget on a right back and an injured midfielder did they?  Nor did Parry, there is only one man in charge of the transfers these days and it's the manager.

I think Benitez has performed poorly as manager since the end of last season and although the media are always quick to pounce on him (usually unjustly I have to say), Benitez hasn't got anywhere near the flak he would have got from LFC fans by now if it wasn't for 'the greater evil' at the club.  In a way their presence keeps a lot of the pressure off him when we don't perform, because fans naturally blame them for all of our problems.

I agree with Mick in that Benitez is not blameless for our position right now, I personally think he has made huge mistakes in where money was spent this summer and put faith in some players that aren't up to it.  That said it hasn't been his fault that Carra and Gerrard have played like a couple of clowns by their standards, nor that we've had so many injuries.  It is his fault though that there isn't adequate cover for those injuries.

I'll reiterate that sacking the manager now would be foolish under the circumstances we're in and obviously the club is rotting from the top with the owners, but they don't pick the team or the tactics do they??  Benitez has had enough resources and a good enough squad not to have lost 6 competitive games this season.  That's not to say we shouldn't get behind the manager and the team now, clearly this is where we are needed most.

we say we cannot afford to sack the manager but surely we must be at a crossroads. Losing the amount of games we have so far this season is a disgrace, the next game...which we will lose...must end the incumbent managers tenure. I'm happy we've merited a top 8 in europe monica for the last few years but this has come to an end, we will not finish top 4 this year. We need a new perspective, I'm tired of Rafas dogmatic approach, zonal defending, Lucas, no subs till 70+ mins, surely sub decisions are based on in game merit?? not whatever time has elapsed? I have had enough, who have we beat? burnley bolton(just) its over for this guy, bring on Morihno or klinsmann. btw i was ashamed to be sat amongst people booing the other night, blimey wtf is going on.

Just for the sake of argument...

You're the co-owners of LFC, you're basically in it to bleed the club dry.  The fans already hate you, you would sell the club if you got the right offer and made a profit.  Things aren't going so well on the pitch, but you're not bothered, ok maybe slightly that you won't make CL and lose cash.

Would you, in that position, pay off a manager who has 4 and a half years to run?  After you've just sanctioned long term contracts to most of his players and backroom staff over the summer?  Forget football for a minute, these guys are business men and that just doesn't make business sense.  And let's face it, it's not about football with these guys.

I just don't see it happening mate.  Nor would I want him sacked at this point.

Well there's nothing like support from people like you is there? What a ridiculous post that is.

I suppose Mystic Meg told you we're definitely gonna lose against United or did you read Russel Grant's predications on the stars?

I cant believe this topic has gone on as long as it has ! First of all no, sacking him would be stupid. We are in turmoil already, by releasing rafa wouldnt improve the situation one bit. Now, if the title was SLAP HIM, now yes, I can go for that. At the beginning of a game and rafa goes daft by selecting a lineup along the lines of playing Torres on the left wing then yes, Sammy Lee should slap him, no questions asked. Or if we take off players who have more influence in a game rather than someone who isnt then again, a little slap and alls good. But sacking no. Even if we lose to United on sunday, as frustrating as it could be (because we are going to win but sods law may give us a draw) sacking the manager at this time just makes matters so much more worse.

The best thing supporters can do now is just, well, just do their job. Support. Those going on sunday take a load of beach balls, the mancs are so obvious with their "humour" beat them to it but not just beat them totally take the p!ss ! Get one over on them before the match begins, when it does begin show the support this club is well known for and drown them out totally, give them nothing on and off the pitch. Throughout the game sing dance jump whatever, and if at the end we do end up with just a draw, well, we have done our part.
