As for the article above, if that's his real ambition then good riddance.

On an ethical level, surely it's not right to dump shyte on a club noted for its pure footballing tradition, like Ajax ?  :D

Then again, I'd be happy to do it to Arsenal

Perhaps that might be the "opportunity" Rafa is talking about i.e. his final chance to actually make a name for himself. At least until Aquilani is back, or better still, back AND performing to the level he was signed for...

his biggest problem for me is his lack of a footballing brain to do something useful with his 1st touch - something that torres, benyoun & gerrard have in spades and players like riera, kuyt also have

for that reason (and all the others) i can't see him succeeding in there tbh

I bet they start every day at Melwood asking   'Ok, who´s said something stupid to the press today?'

WTF would Babel open his mouth and say something as f'ing stupid as that?

to be honest, i'd like to keep the lad. Regardless of what his form has been, he has the potential for greatness. I think he's naturally more talented than kuyt and riera so he could be a huge asset if he found a bit of form. He needs a run of 5 to 10 games in the league, i don't think he's got that since he arrived, but i could be wrong. Selling him is the wrong option, especially to somebody like wenger who'd turn him into another Henry. i do agree that he needs to show more passion and commitment, but those things tend to come with confidence and he'll only get that with time on the pitch.

i forgot being a supermember of a forum meant ur opinion held more weight than mine...
Mate, i'm not the one suggesting offloading him to arsenal (where he'd most likely become one of the world's finest under wenger's guidance) or even playing stevie g in the centre and breaking up his partnership with torres, which at the moment is one of the few places on the pitch where we better the rest of the teams in the top 4

anyone who still thinks babel has the potential for greatness is deluded... As far as I'm concerned he can feck right off to Ajax. You need to show something on the pitch in order for you to play in the first team. Babel has shown very very little whenever he was given the chance. And he still has the guts to blame Rafa. So yeah feck off Babel you can go back to the netherlands and rap in dutch over there...

yes, but it at least shows that the being of the opinion that ryan babel could become a great player can hardly be called deluded

Kenny is like that though, he isn't one to come out and slate the team or players even if he isn't convinced of them. As a hugely respected figure at the club it wouldn't be wise to level candid criticism at a player. Moreover, Babel had only been here one month at the time Kenny made those comments so you wouldn't expect anything but words of encouragement. I trust they were sincere at the time too, but two years on I suspect in private he harbours some serious doubts like the rest of us (though, perhaps to a lesser extent).
