Ryan Babel - What do you think ?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby LFC1982 » Fri Sep 19, 2008 4:54 pm

The lad just needs time in my view......granted his first touch is often a pass but as the kid gets more and more confidence in his game the better he will be and the more he will flourish in a red shirt.

He's not gonna be our answer to Henry but he's certainly better then alot of the :censored: that have pulled on the shirt over the years.

I'm glad to have him here and think we should get behind him, not on his back all the time!!!

Aye true nanny I don't meen by any strech that babel is better then fowler no ways because they are different type of players.

Fowler was a preditor he didn't have great pace but no one could touch him with his finishing and heading.

What I meen is that chance babel had in 2nd half I see it so many times now was a catch 22 chance.

If he hit it softer and tryed to place it he would have taken longer to reach ball and keeper would have saved it easyer , only chance he had was to hit with power due to lack of time he had.

Of course when you hit the ball with power at any time you lose alot of placement and leave it in the lap of the gods.

I do think the keeper just made a really good save.

Any ways I feel you all forget some times how little time you have in football some times to make these choices of power or placement as a striker.

Ask your self this tho if he had gone for placement and keeper grabed the ball would you all had been screaming "babel why didn't you just hit it with power".

I think most of you would.  :D

So you don't think the run could have been timed differently?

So you don't think he could have took a touch away from the keeper after faking a shot?

You don't think he could have timed his run to be closer at the far post?

You don't think he could have got up the defenders :censored: and anticipated the miss earlier to have the angle already opened?

You don't think he could have tried a snap shot?

You don't think he could have let the ball run across his body and stick a toe out?

How clueless are you lad?

The fact is, a different player would have made the angle, would have made the keeper move, would have read the ball better and got into a position where he can finish it. Thats what you fail to comprehend completely. There are alot of possibilities, loads infact, but the fact you're to stupid to see it shows it all about your "understanding" of the game.

:no

Hang on the ball deflected of benny how can any one time a run of that.

I don't see your point and I am not a lad.

Havent been for 10 years thanks.  :D

Think we should stick Babel up front with Torres and see how much we can get for Kean come the January window. Lets face it , Babel at least looks more of a threat and has the pace to keep up with Nando

he's got a great potential, but he is able to show it only a few times... i think that he is the real torres' partner... torres-keane plus babel-kuyt as wingers seems to be a too offensive solution!

This is what happens if you play babel week in week out he gains confidence and plays like a football god.

Great goal against Newcastle and a very good strike against Chelsea, every other goal was as a result of woeful defending.

Also, yes, I mean, a youtube clip shows how great players really are...

I think he'll probably be back on the bench today. I reckon the midfield will be Kuyt-Alonso-Gerrard-Riera.

Babel reminds me of Cisse....poor awareness and godawful first touch. His techical ability is also :censored:....at 23 he shouldn't be making the school boy mistakes he does and, although he does have ability, i fear he lacks the brains to use it.

I think the comparison is unfair if I'm honest.

Cisse had one mode of finishing, smash it straight into the top centre of the net. Babel can do a lot more, as you've seen with his finishes against the likes if Derby, Newcastle, Besiktas etc.

yeah, but he's 23 and acts like a school boy on the pitch by running the ball out of play or falling over when trying to dribble past players.

for 11 million he's a poor buy
