LIVERPOOL v MANCHESTER UNITED - 12:45 GMT, 13-09-08

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Bermenstein » Mon Sep 01, 2008 11:27 am

I know it's 2 weeks early but, anyhow here it goes.

It's Rafa's 4th year in charge and this match against Man Ure is the pinnacle on which rafa must be judged.

If we win, surely all the nay saying must be put to rest and let him develop his plan in hopefully obtainig the title.

If we lose to Man Ure  yet again at home, we have not moved on, and the questioning and doubt will surely loom over anfield.

IMO, it's a MUST NOT LOOSE game, for reasons of pride, passion & progress.

Heart say   Lpool 2-0 Man Utd
Head says  Lpool 0-1 Man Utd

2-1 on aggregate, so we win!! :D

Going to depend on if Torres & Gerrard are fit innit?
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

we'll dominate the whole game, as we always do against them at anfield under rafa, they'll nick a goal from a set piece against the run of play and then win the game 1-0.

NO result is important but i want to see attacking football and overall performance that makes me proud to be a fan of this great club that is more important.

But knowing rafa he will setup to defend and nick a goal and we end losing one from set play or win with gerrard long range effort.

Its an awful pity we have to seem to rely on 2 players to carry the team, but it's true i suppose.
Could be an ideal opportunity for either Keane or Babel (If he gets a chance) to step up to the task.

Well hopefully Rafa will prove that he is not 1-dimensional against them this time.
If they do win it in that style again, well then what else has he got to offer?

Why is it the pinnacle on which rafa must be judged ?

GH used to beat Man Utd on a regular basis and this got us where exactly ?

Because If we cant beat the likes of Man U, Chelsea and Arsenal at home, we will not win or challenge for the title. Coz we aint likely gonna beat them at their place. Therefore no progress. Hes 4 years in the job now. Beat the top 4 at home at least.

Ok fair enough I take your point.

We do have a good record against Arsenal at home.
Against Chelsea, 1 win 2 years ago, a draw last year. But generally poor over the last 5 years.
But against Man Utd we are dreadful. Haven't even scored against them in the last 7 home or away.

I'm just saying that a real improvement is needed for this home game.
Hopefully we will show it.......

Can't see where the goals are gonna come from....Doubtful Torres will be back, but then again his record against the top three is pretty gruesome; Keane ? gimme a break....; Ngog - too raw around the edges...
Tell you what though, and Rafa wouldn't countenance it in a million years - I watched a replay of the Reserves Final vs. Aston Villa on LFC TV and Nemeth looked like an Ian Rush of yore. He wanted the ball, always in the danger area, knew where the goal was.....and he'd be a complete unknown for some of the Premiership defences....Maybe he'd have a tough time against Vidic and Ferdinand, but I'd take a punt. Why not ?

No matter how our form has been we always seem to step it up for these games!
Maybe a passion filled noisy encounter at Anfield is exactly what the team needs because it looks like they have all been playing at 50%!

UTD have been lucky, too Fu*king lucky against us in recent times its high time we beat them.No point talking about Gerrard or Torres because no one knows yet whether they will be available...fingers crossed they both are!

i don't think we will beat em i'm just hoping for a 0-0 draw, with the defense coming to the rescue for once. come back danny murphy all is forgiven i really never meant what i said. the great thing is reine is in crazy form....but then again he was in good form last season yet put in a curious performance against manu ...which probably is why he never got much playing time in the euro's .i don't know what it is about manu but our keepers seem to be more villains than heroes in those encounters....its now becoming a tradition.
