They are not the same kind of football. Just because it worked for Rafa in Spain doesn't mean it's guaranteed to work in England.

No better example than Rafa's choice of defensive system, the 'let soft goals in from set pieces' system

Funnily enough one major difference between what Rafa did at Valencia and what he's done at Anfield involves the number of titles won - league titles in 2001/2 and 2003/4 and he only took over in 2001. Shows how vastly different managing Liverpool is

Ive Wanted Gareth Barry to be a Liverpool player for ages. Something needs to be sorted out and soon. Theres loads of Rumours about how much or what we are paying to get him i just want the 2 managers to sort something out quick.
Our 1st pre season is tommorow and stuff needs to be sorted

I think Barry should sign ive rated him for a while and as i said ive wanted him to sign for a while. I think Barru signing and playing will be good news for the team as Gerrard as come out and said he wants Barry at Liverpool and them too get on well. I think its important that our Capatain gets on well with the players we sign and play

Look at the damage - they've gone on pre-season tour and left him behind, and they've fined him.

The situation has now changed - THEY NEED to get rid of him now.

had a look on a few villa forums earlier, you would not believe some of the tripe these guys are coming out with

apparently where hanging onto being a top four team and villa are going to replace us, must be all those top signings there making

Rafa isnt serious about buying barry, its just to unsettle the player and put a spanner in mons masterplan of becoming a top 4 team

Good point Toffee, time to re-edit.

If Barry isn't signed by 70 pages I'm driving down to Texas and punching Gillet and Hicks. Or whichever one of the two lives there.

Even though MON is being a dick, if we had funding it wouldn't be such a big deal. (Not his Dickery, the extra 1-2 Mil we aren't paying. Thats pocket change to Chelsea)

Barry wants to play for us , MON should stop being a cun.t and let him go . Why keep a player who does not want to play for us and yet pay wages when there is a decent offer on the table for him . MON is greedy and its time rafa pulls out than maybe the price would drop and we'll get barry cheaper

Living in Texas, I'd do it myself if I'd get some kind of banner held up in my name at our next home game

Even if we had the money I would still begrudge paying over the odds for another midfielder.

Are they also saying what I've seen a bit which is they don't need the money? Then why fix the price anywhere near that low?

They don't look likely to move into the top four, they lost TEN games last season (MON a genius?!?!?) and only won sixteen. They haven't beaten us in the league since 2001/2, Man Utd since 1995/6 (and conceded eight goals in the two league games last season), Arsenal since 1998/9, but did beat Chelsea last season - they have somewhat of a hoodoo over them! Not exactly in the same league nonetheless

And as you say, their signings are not exactly worrying me or a lot of people. They'll have trouble attracting the top players, quite why we're STILL so hell bent on signing a player we don't need for over the top money we supposedly can't afford I don't know. For £18m we should be looking at strikers, not adding to the pool of midfielders. Rafa has unsettled Barny, time to pull out of discussions and tell the leprechaun "we'll be in touch". Wait until mid-August and then offer £7m, it will muck villa and the leprechaun about as they won't be able to plan without knowing if they'll have Barny, Finnan or what come the end of the transfer window. And when noone else bids for him, should in theory make it a buyer's market, then they'll be faced with having an unsettled midfielder and maybe have spent money they didn't have so need it to go through.

about barry any ways yeah he good player but no better then what we have and defo not worth 18 , 16 or 14 12 max for him about same as alonso.
