If media reports that Villa are ready to pay us 10 million for Carson's permanent transfer are accurate, I'd take the money and run.

He's not a bad keeper but I don't think he's going to be good enough for us.  Good shot stopper on his day but makes terrible decisions at times, is poor at coming off his line and has a tendency to lose concentration.

In addition, Reina is world class already imo, and he's only a few years older than Carson.  Carson will not get a chance in the Liverpool first team as long as Reina's around, which all being well will be for the next ten years or so.  It's the best move for him and the club if he moves on.  He's never worth 10 million though, that's a great deal for us.

Am I right in thinking that - alongside maybe the £8m we got for Owen - this is the most we've ever made selling someone on?

Fowler - about £12million I think

Reportedly £11m, depends what source you go to but most I see say that.

I doubt we made a profit on Cisse or Diouf, I read Cisse might be sold to an English club for £5m (already!)

Owen was supposedly £8m + Nunez which works out at about £6m

Interestingly I did start a file on the tradings of Evans, Houllier and Rafa. Depends whether you think Rafa sold Houllier's players off cheap or got what he could for them. Doesn't help that many fees are not widely known

Gordon @ Sunderlands transfer set the precedent - so i think the Carson transfer fee should be just as overinflated.

Its good deal for all especially us !

Surely the level should be set by the best keeper ie Reina ;)

Ah well - its not a surprise if he goes. Reina isnt going to be shifted in the short term and he needs games at his stage of his career. Good luck to the lad & lets hope we get big bucks for him!

Yeah...good luck to Carson. I wouldn't mind a buy back clause in the deal as I reckon he's potentially a v.good keeper and potentially an LFC # 1 in the future.

Great deal though...buy him for £1.5m and sell him for £10m :)

Feck me fella you got a split personality or what? Sounds like you're having an argument with yourself in that post. So, is it "I for one would keep Scott", or is it "that's a good price with the 9 million profit we could ..."?

sorry for the late reply but i guess i would love to see him stay but he's never gonna replace pepe so i guess instead of letting him rot on the bench sell him for a profit
