'Forget about trying to stop Ronaldinho. Defending against him is impossible, but what you can do is stop him influencing the game by stopping the players who give him the ball and who give him the platform to perform. Xavi, Deco and Iniesta are the ones who will try to feed the brilliant Brazilian and that is something Rafa will be well aware of.'

I said that 15 pages ago, but I won't be paid like him!

Perhaps match them up in midfield, Sissoko Gerrard and Xabi, then revert to 4-4-2 at home and really go at them?

Balague is right and Sabre too!  :D

When I watched valencia vs Barca, most of the time the players gave the ball to ronaldinho, so stopping the ball going to the brazilian maestro would be a good idea.

Nice pic Larsson. Not because the Nou Camp, I always liked the geometrical design of Barcelona, with the diagonals as axis.

In my honest opinion Messi, Eto'o, Iniesta and Deco are not in the same league as Goofy. Yes they are good players but they are NOT the 'go-to' player Goofy is.

Barca are in a rather poor form lately (shame on our last 2 results also) ,good result in Camp-Nou is indeed possible.
It is crucial to not foul their guys near the box ,it's like giving them a penalty.

Gianluca Zambrotta admits he would happily settle for a 1-0 victory over Liverpool in Wednesday's Champions League clash at the Nou Camp.

Barca, the reigning champions, host the team they succeeded in the first leg of their last 16 tie, and Zambrotta insists it is vital his side get some sort of lead to take to England for the second meeting.

"It is important to win. To win 1-0 would be a good. Liverpool are a team who are very difficult to play against and who play very well at Anfield." said the Italy defender.

"It is very important to make the most of this first game at home.

"It is a different game because we are playing at home, in front of our fans," he said.

"To play at the Nou Camp is to our advantage. Against Liverpool, we have to enjoy ourselves.

"It is important to win at here because the Reds are very dangerous at home in front of their supporters."

Zambrotta ???

ah yes I remember, he was part of the great Juve team who absolutely shat themselves for the first half an hour of the game in 2005

Watching last Barça matches I realized that the fans are beginning to get fed up with Ronaldinho when he doesn't have a magical night...I mean, he is a superb player that maybe this season is not being the main character every single game (as he used to be last seasons), sometimes he disappears, he gives the ball away more than usual, sometimes he insists on doing impossible things...well, when all that happens at the Nou Camp, the audience starts murmuring and, I notice a nervous Ronaldinho that makes a lot of mistakes, and even too many faults...I hope it happens next Wednesday. I'd be more worried about Messi...that kid will be great...if he is not so now...

Barca are unbeaten at home this season in all competitions. Can't recall the last time they lost at Nou Camp.

Former Barcelona and England manager Sir Bobby Robson today sang the praises of the Liverpool supporters and explained why his former club must be wary of Rafael Benitez's well-drilled side.
Robson holds fond memories of his time in charge of the Nou Camp outfit but believes that Barcelona will be amazed by the atmosphere generated inside Anfield when the two teams contest the deciding return leg tie in a couple of weeks.

"I think that playing at Liverpool's stadium is one of the most memorable experiences you can have as a footballer," claimed the 73-year-old. "The fans are incredible. It is different. The team belongs to the supporters; it is the team of the city and because of this, they create a very special atmosphere.

"They sing, scream, are noisy and they generate an infernal atmosphere but, at the same time, it is very sporting. Barca can expect to have a bad time in Liverpool. If they go there and do not lose, they will have done well for themselves. The atmosphere that the players will encounter is one of the most stimulating that they could see right now in a stadium. The players will love it."

While Frank Rijkaard's side have all that to look forward to, Robson believes that on Wednesday night they will face a team that is strong all the way from the back to front.

"To be a good team, you have to be good in all parts of the team," explained the one-time national coach in an interview with Barcelona TV. "If you don't have a good midfield, or have a weak defence or a mediocre attack, you don't have a good team. The good teams have collective quality.

"Liverpool have a very strong defence. Sami Hyypia may or may not play. They have Steve Finnan, Daniel Agger, Jamie Carragher and John Arne Riise - good defenders.

"In the middle of the pitch, we find Steven Gerrard, a magnificent player of the highest level. They have a Spanish player who is excellent - Xabi Alonso. He is among the best. He knows how to control the play and has a great pass on him.

"They have the striker Peter Crouch, who is English. I won't forget Craig Bellamy, who I signed when I was with Newcastle. He is very, very fast, and very dangerous. There is also the Dutchman, Dirk Kuyt, who is a good player with a lot of quality. They are not one player, they are a team."

I've always liked the senile old bugger, Bobby Robson. Its nice to hear words of encouragment from a neutral.

This game is worthy of being the final by all rights.

Ive not been on the forum much recently due to work but come on the :censored: reds! :D

My prediction 2-2.

Everyone talks of them being supreme and invinsible but we showed the whole footballing world in 2005 what we are capable of on our day. Dont underestimate Rafa and Liverpool!!!!
