Agger is going to be an outstanding signing for us. A potential LFC captain of the future if Gerrard and Carra were not about (god forbid).

Knowing that he missed most of the pre season, only playing the in the Community Shield before the league started is astonishing. Every player needs games to get match fitness, but he has just eased his way into the team, making it look like he has been here for years.

I thought he was man of the match against West Ham, not only becuase of the tremendous goal he scored, but more for his assured defensive display, fantastic distribution and confidence in possession. He displayed all of those attributes again tonight and it would be between him and Kuyt for man of the match again IMO.

Tremendous young player.

excellent peformance by Agger tonight, dont think he mistimed a single challenge. He also started to get forward really well in the second half. He does look like an excellent prospect and he's really starting to come along nicely.

My thoughts exactly Phil :D  . Rafa certainly likes springing surprises in his team selections. I think Agger has done enough to warrent a place against Chelsea now. I dont think hes first choice yet, but done more than enough to earn the chance.

He could solve the left-back arguement in one fell swoop.

Go 3-5-2, playing Aurelio and Finnan as wingbacks vs Sh*tski:

                                      Reina

                      JC             Sami        Agger

Finnan                                                                Aurelio
                                    Alonso

                  Gerrard                         Sissoko

                             Bellamy

                                           Kuyt.

You going to tell me that team wouldn't whip the chav's a*ses?

Gerrard, Finnan and Aurelio provide the width, with Gonzo/Pennant/Luis coming on to f*ck them up late in the game.

Plenty of defensive strength, and a good balance between that and attacking flair.

we've certainly got to be positive lando. none of this "playing for a draw" rubbish. chelsea are nowhere near as good as everyone makes out. their midfield balance is all over the place and if we get some genuine width in our game we can hurt them.

my only concern as i stated earlier is that rafa is going to revert to one upfront.

I was slated in the summer for saying this guy would replace one of the central defenders this season.

Watching the game yesterday, there was one player who stood head and shoulders above the rest. This player was Daniel Agger. Yesterdays game was a good solid team performance in my eyes, and only for the woodwork we would of gone home with all 3 points. Kuyt lived up to expectation, Bellamy exceeded it in my eyes but Agger was simply immense.

Everytime Farfan or Kone got one on one with him, he put a solid foot in and won the ball every time. I had to keep asking "Was that Agger?". Lat night was his best performance in a red shirt in my opinion. He was calm, collective and very precise with his tackling. His passing again was as per usual, excellent, and once again he weren't afraid to bring the ball out of defence.  I was actually screaming for him to hit it lol.

My only negative in the entire performance was that if he would of brought the ball out of defence more and pushed up more, we would of definetly won the game. However it still was a exceptional performance for one so young.

If I was Sami I would of watched that with a mixture of fear and envy as Daniel is looking like the real deal in the mould of Sami. I'm not knocking Sami but Agger is pushing hard for a first team place and I cannot see how Rafa can deny it him with performances like he has been given. Chelsea, West Ham and last night have all been brilliant performances from our Great Young Dane.

the 3 5 2 looks good, but with a team that has ashely cole down the left, dont you think finnan would have far to much to do, definatley would get caught a few times.  Id maybe exepriment with that in a lesser game.  looks good on paper though.

No matter how pleased I was to see Carra back for the derby I don't think Agger should of been dropped. He was outstanding against Chelsea at Cardiff. When he came on against the Blades again he was superb. West Ham he would of been our best player even without the ball and last night just topped it all off. He is definately one for the future and if this isn't his year to be a regualar next season has to be. So hopfully Dan Agger will be happy being a bit part player for the next 8 months and then next August really establish himself as one of best defenders.

Already he is being compared to Jocky Hansen which is as good as it gets really. Agger is very assured on the ball which is what we need if Sami doesn't play because calmness is not Carra's best attribute. He brings it out of defence and is probably the best in the air we have.
