Like who and don't say Sorin. For starters he'll cost too much and from what I've seen of him he plays on the left back.

Sorin has moved any way this summer, so he is out of the question  :p

Whilst I like your wit and quick thinking, I suggest you read puroresu's suggestion about signing Sorin in this thread:

if rafa bought him he wouldn't just be a back up player.. rotation rotation he can play anywhere along the back line and wouldn't need settling time as palleta will

4.5 mill is the top end for a player with one year left but he will be now saying to mark hughes .let me go to a champions league team, or have ping pong as a sweetener

At anything under 3 million he'd be a sound purchase in my opinion. He's a much better player than many on here are giving him credit for and contrary to most, i quite like his competitive attitude.
It's unlikely that Kromkamp is ever going to be adequate cover for the right hand saide and Neill offers the bonus that he can also play centre-half as well (he's actually better there in my view). If he's in the last year of his contract, 2.5-3 million should do it, or Ping-Pong plus a million.

If BlackPOOL want £4.5m for a player with less than 12 months left on his contract, they're taking the p*ss.

He's not worth that even with 3 years left on his deal. He's a defender, not a striker or goal-scoring midfielder.

Rovers are pains in the backside.

BTW - I don't want the nasty b*stard at Anfield. He's a liability.

Prediction:

If he signs, the first final he plays in will result in a red card.  :no

I really hope this is a bullsh.it rumour,though i fear its not!

In my opinion this guy is mediocre at best and not of the class needed to improve our defence!

Fu.ckin Lucas Neill i cant believe it! :no

You know people said what you have about Peter Crouch. A year down the line and he's almost the best thing since sliced bread. Anyway it's not likely that Rafa will pull a rabbit out of his hat and sign someone like Ronaldinho is he? Neill will give us more "options and possibilities for sure".

4.5mil for a backup player on the last year of his contract who wants to leave and who will probably break a few legs and get a few dozen red cards whilst playing for us..

You're all speaking like £4.5million is actually going to the price, I just suggested it, as I think it's a reasonable price for someone of Lucas' talent and ability.

Ahhh, double threads...gotta love 'em!  Here's my take, as posted in the other thread (sorry for the double post):

I'm not best pleased with this guy coming given the past unpleasantness but, objectively, he has battling qualities that will suit some of our league and cup fixtures this term and his versatility might offer us good cover across the back line.  He will not, IMO, cause Finnan to lose any sleep but he could come in very handy should there be injuries to Finnan or others.  If he does come I will grudgingly wipe the slate clean and support the lad.  If he doesn't come, however, I'll continue thinking he's a bit of a kunt! :D

On the flipside, I guess Kromkamp is off given how aggressively we're going after Neill today.  Based on what I've seen I guess I'm not surprised yet it's too bad he didn't settle and push Finnan a little harder for his place (not that I'm looking to get rid of Finnan, mind--I'm just in favour of competition for places).

I just dont think he is good enough for us, the only logic I can see in this is, he's no stranger to the prem.
But I fear he would cost us points, and his disaplinary record is attrocious TBH.

doesnt make sense ! just because he's in his final year of contract and would be a bargain at whatever price we buy him for doesnt mean we have to go after him ! only time on pitch he'd have is if finnan is injured and kromkamp stays cra.ppy and  i dont expect either to happen ! Just a waste of money if you ask me ! for 3 mill or whatever, why dont we try to find a good young guy from france or spain for the future of the club, or just keep the money in the bank incase we need to buy players when the next transfer window opens....i think we should keep our money cuz we'll probably want to buy come december if we arent doing so well !
