Yeah im not sure about kuyt, havent been convinced by him from what ive seen but to be honest i havent seen a whole lot of him, only the world cup and bits of him in the dutch league, ill trust rafas judgement, he obviously rates this guy very highly and thinks he can be a massive success here, hopefully he will prove the doubters wrong and turn out great, bellamy, kuyt, fowler and crouch sounds good to me for a strikeforce.

I've seen Kuyt a few times, and think on the whole that he is a good player and would be a very good buy for Liverpool FC.

He didn't have a good WC but then most didn't IMO.

I trust Rafa Bs judgement and look forward to Kuyt signing for us.

He was sh.ite in the world cup but to be fair to him he played out of position in 1 game and got fu.ck all service in the other so he cant be really judged on them to games. I havent really seen the fella play but ave seen a few of his goals and he looks like a decent goalscorer and his record is excellent even if it is in sh.ite league. His power will give us that last component to give our strikeforce everything. Fowler has the intelligence and predatory instinct, crouch the link up and flicks ons, touch etc etc, bellamy the pace and kuyt will give us the power dun dun dun ,dun dun dun dun.
10 MIL is steep like but if he gets the goals thats helps us win the title then it will be money well spent and rafa doesnt usually part with that kind of money unless the player is a bit special. I reckon he'd be a success if he arrived.

In today's Echo, Bascombe said that the fee for Kuyt has been agreed and all that is left for us to do is the paperwork. According to him, he should officialy join us sometime next week.

Thats a very good thing.

The choices we have, even if we get some injuries we still have a huge squad to cope.

By the way, nothing's wrong with Pongolle--he's fast and skilful. It just seems that for some reason or other he doesn't fit into Rafa's plans (not strong enough? Ged's man?)

Ihave been saying this for ages now...parry has been holding this club back for too long now...he should back rafa's plans and give him the funds he needs to get the player now....its about time parry moved with the times and stopped being a "cheap skate". The way things are going with all this dithering i wouldn't be surprised if another club comes in and snatches him from under our noses. ???

Have to agree about parry. He is just not CEO material. A globally known club like this should be raking in millions not be rated below arsenal in the money stakes  :no

At present, it seems Liverpool is not even worth half of Arsenal's value! Why don't they rake in more from merchandising in places in South East Asia? I'm in Thailand at present and you see Liverpool supporters everywhere. If ManU can do it, so can we!

Yeah....liverpool is massively supported in south east asian countries. It does not take a rocket scientist to take advantage of this senario.......

Liverpools problems go back decades...we never capitilised commercially on our great successes in the 70/80s the club never took advantage of all the merchandise it could have promoted, and sold....even after winning the european cup for the 5th time!..we never really pushed ourselves globally in terms of selling the brand of L.F.C. Although it pains me to have to say this on the other hand the mancs (manure utd) have seen and capitilised on the selling of a brand name in football they started doing this years ago...when they were winning fukk all...the same goes for Arsenal. we on the other hand seem to have slipped behind them, and we need people in the club who have a forward looking vision to put us back were we belong at the top of the commercial ladder..the amount of money that could be generated from this venture would have enabled L.F.C. to be able to compete for the best players in the market...instead of looking at our small budget and having to settle for lower quality players...the blame must lie with moores/parry they have very little forward thinking in them and until a someone or a large consortium invest in us we will always struggle to play "catch up"...i think its time moores/parry either (to coin a phrase) "p1ssed in the pot"..or got off it.  ???

From the sunday mirror, i would say it was bullsh.it from the source but there is a quote..

13 August 2006
BENITEZ KUYT SWOOP GROUNDED
FA COMMUNITY SHIELD: CHELSEA v LIVERPOOL, KICK-OFF 3pm
By Simon Mullock And Luke Gosset
LIVERPOOL have been told to forget about signing Dirk Kuyt this summer by Feyenoord coach Erwin Koeman.

Anfield boss Rafa Benitez was set to make a renewed £10million bid for Dutch striker Kuyt this week.

The 26-year-old World Cup star was also being watched by Tottenham and New-castle. But Koeman insists his captain, who will be out of contract in 12 months, won't be swapping Rotterdam for the Premiership in the near future.

Koeman said: "I expect he will be staying with Feyenoord for one more year and then after that we will see. But at this moment there is nothing happening."

Benitez has also been priced out of making a move for Frenchman David Trezeguet.

Liverpool had been informed that the France striker was available for just over £6.5m, but Juventus have since doubled their asking price.

The deposed Italian champions are under no pressure to sell any more players following the departure of several big names.

Benitez is also looking at German World Cup star Miroslav Klose.

The Werder Bremen striker is valued at about £8m - within Benitez's budget now that a deal for Kuyt looks unlikely to go through.
