I like him,ask any spurs fan and theyll say hes the best thing happen to them in a very long time. Hes funny too, if i was face to face with him and he started talking - I wouldnt be able to keep a straight face :D   Its just the press twisting stories.
Hes not in Rafas league!
(he is in the premiership but you know what i mean) :lookaround

Benitez may have inherited a top 4 side, but thats exactly what it was, a team battling for 4th place that was never gonna go any higher, never able to challenge the big 3, benitez has changed all that, he has made the big 3 the big 4 now, Tottenham and Jol have done well but they are a long way away from making it the big 5 in the premiership. Jol has cleverly used the league tables to make him look good in regards too tottenham and liverpools league positions in recent history, but in essence there has always been an elite group of teams in the premiership and a chasing pack, and liverpool and tottenham have been part of that chasing pack.

But i now firmly believe that benitez has pushed us up into that elite group, that is a massive achievement as it is, (along with the EUROPEAN CUP JOL!!!) and even though tottenham appear to be knocking on the door its just another false dawn for the spurs fans, they are and they will remain, still part of that illusive 'chasing pack'

THE END

This guy is dreaming. The season is far from over and he already said his team will finish top four already. Definitely he's done very well but others are picking up very well too. Wigan used to be in Spurs spot 2 months ago, but now they are back to where they belong.. and Arsenal is getting better.. I don't see any reason why spurs should be in the Champions Leageu spot or otherwise they'll become like nEverton this season... RB is doing much much much better than him.... get a life......

I, personally, don't see much wrong in what he said. Although, yes - Rafa's progress with the club is far more impressive in ways. Won the biggest prize of them all in club football in his first year with not the greatest of squads.Tactically and in terms of getting the most out of his player, Jol is having a laugh if he's comparing himself to Rafa. No comparison. But, he has done a good job since taking over at Spurs and making them into an exciting team on the up (Maybe they they have been tagged that before, but look at the squad they have now. Alot of good players there, most of them pretty young. ). They may be part of the chasing pack, but they're the leaders on the pack. Realistically, I don't see them finishing fourth.  Still, the man deserves praise. Just not as much as rafe.

It proves how great a manager Rafa is when other managers in the premiership say they arer better than him. They want to make them selves look better by comparing and bettering themselves next to rafa.

I agree with most of the postings in this thread that martin Jol has done well at Spurs and they are moving forward in the right direction. His team play so much better than Santini's ultra defensive Spurs but he has bought an awful lot of players, especially midfielders, for a team who are not in Europe and he is putting his bet on youngsters (and paying quite a lot for them) with the exception being Edgar Davids.

Spurs also are playing very fluid passing game which they never had for such a long time but the stats against us in the last game tells the story. We had more possession, more shots on target.

I don't believe him reportedly saying that he is better than Rafa, that is media cr@p trying to sell their stories. he does not seem to be the boastful type. If he did say so, he should learn from Mancini who boasted that Juve are running scared of Inter beacuse a couple of defeats will let Inter catch up. After that, Inter stuttered and Juve keept winning and pulling away.
