Jol: im better than rafa - Hotspur chief in lapse of sanity

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

What a wan.ker, he claims that he has performed better in managing his team into the top 5. What an insane comment, one that will have him regretting for years to come, also don;t you guys reckon he looks like that cannibal killer, German Miewes?

Here is the report:

Jol: I've done better than Rafa
By Mark Buckingham

Martin Jol is confident his record at Tottenham can stand favourable comparison with Rafa Benitez's at Liverpool.

The two sides clash at Anfield on Saturday afternoon, with both clubs currently in the top four in The Premiership.

Both managers are in their second seasons in charge of their respective sides, but Jol feels he has performed a better job.

Though Benitez guided The Reds to UEFA Champions League glory last term, Jol believes more progress has been made by Tottenham.

"We've done better than Liverpool if you compare the progress at the two clubs," insisted Jol.

"Liverpool were still in the top four or five before Benitez arrived and we weren't, so it's a much different job.

"But we are already where we want to be, we needed a year and we are in the top four now."

Jol also noted the difference in transfer policy between himself and his Spanish counterpart on Merseyside.

The Dutchman added: "We work in different ways.

"They have signed older players, we have brought in a lot of young players and most of them have done well, along with two or three experienced players."

He's done a good job and fair play to him. In fairness he hasn't said he's better than Rafa in the quote. I have to say though that it's a big ask to compare yourself manegerially to a man who won the Champions League last season with a team which regularly included the likes of Igor Biscan, Djimi Traore and occasionally Neil Mellor. If he thinks he's done the equal of that at Spurs then fair play to the bloke. Truth is though he's probably been trawling the dimly lit cafe's of his homeland a little too much by the sounds of it.

Yes he done really well.

To says he's done as good or nearly as good as Rafa is laughable. he fails to mention the young lads we've signed as he, like most of us has little knowledge of them and they have to compete with the likes of Hyypia, Gerrard and Alonso for places. He also fails to acknowledge the fact we're probably the second best side in the country now, not the 5th.

Still credit where its due, he's done well.

Jol has done a great job at Spurs considering the state of the club when he took over but to say he's a better manager than Rafa is crazy when you compare what Rafa has won in the past 5 years  :no

jol is doing well at spurs in an otherwise barren field previously. id like to say im impressed by the man up til now and the garbage coming from the press is up to its usual standard....c.rap!
overall spurs could do well though and it wont be easy playing them.
they have some excellent players....but no depth. again it will be interesting to see them keep it up through a long season. so far so good. but you aint better than rafa...at all m8!

Mind games, its all to try and pressure every aspect of our club, and to be honest, it is not gonna work when they try and compare both manager's records. Jol has won nothing, and had only needed to concentrate on the Premier League for 2 seasons, whereas we've had other fish to fry. Great comparison, sh1tty mind games, lol

Not being funny but we have had nothing but praise from Jol towards Liverpool I doubt very much he said he is better than Rafa, probably gutter rag press rehashing and turning quotes around, look no further than the sh.it they printed yesterday what Dudek NEVER said.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Be careful what you read in the press, It's not always what it seems.

whilst he didn't actually say he was better than Rafa, he did say he thought that he'd done as well on a managerial level.

FWIW I happen to believe its incorrect-but he's entitled to a view.

Whilst he's improved the side that he inherited, he's not actually won anything or for that matter come close.
How can that stand comparison with winning the ultimate prize in european club football? Or coming close to winning the absolute ultimate in world club football?

I can see the point he's trying to make in as much as the actual improvement in league positions, but lets face it, to match that we'd have to be top???

If (an its a big if) hey manage to finish in the top four this season, next season will be the acid test as to where they really are.

Ask NEVERton:D

I have to apologize for the misleading title then, sure, Jol didn't actually say those words, but by golly gosh, by saying that he was a better manager than Rafa, then the title of the post rings true.
