If I am not mistaken, the accounting treatment for the "carrying value" of a player is to amortise the purchase cost over the period of his contract. If Cisse is on a 5-year contract, the annual amortisation rate is 2.8 million a year, so at this juncture with approx. 3.5 years left of his contract, his carrying value is 9.8 million. Still, there is no way we will get anything near to that value from Marseille, I even doubt if we can get 8 million.

7 million would do nicely.

Defoe? Tottenham fans claim that he doesn't have good enough awarness, I can't judge Defoe because I don't see him play week in and week out but obivioulsy Tottenham fans can. And as of late he's been on the bench. If he can't work under Jol's system than what makes you think that he will under Rafa's?

Dafoe is yet another prima donna...and I thought we already have ALT and Cisse...to see how Rafa ruthlessly treated them :bowdown

The difference is that Defoe is very very talented, ALT and Cisse aren't in his class IMO.

The guy is one of the best young strikers in the English game and he would be a top signing IMO. He's not as good as Eto'o or Adriano granted, but he's better than anything we have at the minute.

Cisse is an utter disgrace. He spends all the time running around the field kicking the ball randomly and hoping it would go in. Seriously, no skill, no teamwork, no brains. What a waste of 14million.
Selling him for 3-4 million is just nuts. But if a deal similar to Baros' comes in, bye bye Cisse. He might as well not think of a footballing future. He should just go to the Olympics and compete as an athlete for France.

thing is Rafa will not stand player(s) with attitute that will undermine his management or team spirit. Granted we will always try to look with an eye closed if the player concern is as talented as a Maradona, Cruyff, Ronaldinho or a Zidane. Dafoe is no way in that little league and his performance at big stages is still a big question mark.

Our prob is not ciise. Its RCM. Ciise is not performing coz he is out of position. We dont have a decent striker better than him. morientes hasn't scored playing in his own position. Crouch... no comment. Garcia scores a goal only in a blue moon. so keep ciise. selll kewell. that bastyard dont desrve to a liverpoolian

According to Rafa,Cisse was rested because he wanted to use other players in the squad?

Still it wouldn't make sense selling him in January as his replacement would be ineligible for the CL games,so in that respect I'd give him the benefit of the doubt(despite his flaws) and keep him for the rest of the season.

I think we should hang on to him at least till the end of the season and then make a renewed bid for MO. With Newcaslt now out of yet another cup comp this season and results getting worse i dont think MO will really want to stay the duration of his contract their. Maybe a swap deal could be done + some cash.

Sack MO off. He has the wrong attitude to be welcomed back as some kind of prodigal son. Forget that. Bring in kuyt.

As some people have rightfully pointed out. Just cannot see us getting a top quality striker during the jan transfer window unless the price is over inflated.

If we do sell Cisse in Jan (which i think would be a big mistake) we can play garcia as striker to feed off crouchie's knock-downs. He knows where the goal is and considering that simao is coming in january, we would not be left short on the flanks in doing this.

he's injured, so it wouldve been better for us, as he wouldnt be playing at the moment. what i mean is, he'd be out and wouldnt be benefitting from his services

agree 100% there. Owen screwed LFC and look where it's got him? A relegation battle and no chance of Champions league footy. As for Cisse, as i said ealier, Rafa doesn't need to sell him. He'll bring in 2-3 new players in Jan and unless we get back the money we paid, cisse will stay. Why? Because he's scoring goals and doing a job.
