His touch is poor, he has no football brain to speak of and he isn't a team player. He is worth nowhere near 14 million pounds (just out of interest is it still too early? must we still remember Pires etc etc) and his attitude stinks.
All that said, the blokes goalscoring record when he actually plays up front isn't too bad. I just feel that him and Crouch poses the classic conundrum for a defending team. Go deep to counter Cisse's pace and we will hit Crouch who will flick it or knock it down to the Frenchman on the edge of your box. Defend higher up to counter Crouch and we will slide the ball in behind for Cisse to use his pace.
I've said many times that I don't think Morientes will do the job for us. I think he is a bad buy pure and simple. Cisse similarly was an ill-concieved purchase at the price. Those who even mention Mellor are deluding themselves in my view, while Sinena-Pongolle has impressed me this season I think he needs to develop further. Crouch I think has done well albeit in a role which doesn't really afford him many goalscoring opportunities.
All in all it's time for a Crouch Cisse partnership. Not for a half, or a game, or even a couple of games but for a run. Despite his infuriating faults somebody somewhere has got to give us some goal threat. Cisse, while not quite being THE man, is the nearest thing we've got.
