Crouch?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I feel, if he plays, Crouch's best weapon on saturday will be his ability with the ball at his feet. In Gardener and Crouch spurs have two very big centre halves so I can't see them worrying too much about any ariel threat, they are also more than pacey enough to deal with Crouch running at them.

What I'm saying is I feel he's going to need to be a little bit cute, hold play up, hustle and bustle. Draw the defenders in to make space for our on-rushing midfield to put pressure on the spurs goal. Played like this I think he could cause Tottenham some real problems at the weekend.

I agree that a Crouch/Cisse partnership is probably the best option we have right now. Hopefully, it will make up for our lack of effective wide players with Crouch helping Cisse, and others get in behind a flat back four.  It also gives us an alternative to playing through a crowded middle of the park if they decide to play five across the midfield,

Agree the Crouch-Cisse partnership has real potential. I also believe we will see the best of Morientes when he has Crouch there to allow him to play a little deeper.

however, i'd be surprised if the boss play 2-up from the start against Spurs. Pretty sure we will see Sissoko in the middle with Alonso and Stevie playing off of Crouch.

Why is everyone so sure Cisse will start?  Have I missed something?  I think that, if Rafa picks true to form, he'll go for Crouch on his own up front and runners from midfield.  He's too defensive for me in away games.

That is what Rafa will do, most people myself included would prefer him to start with cisse and crouch, but it will be a similar line up to the one at boro with probably crouch on his own and gerrard or garcia just off him.

I am actually quite excited by the prospect and Crouch and Cisse starting up front together tomorrow. As previously pointd out..Crouch should bring Cisse into the game from lay-offs etc.

With Alonso and Gerrard supplying I can see us scoring a few!!  :wwww

Looks like Crouch will definately start, lets hope Cisse is alongside him.
Crouch to win his Spurs Sep 9 2005

By Chris Bascombe, Liverpool Echo

PETER CROUCH will make his belated Premiership debut at Spurs tomorrow.

Rafa Benitez today confirmed he intends to thrust his £7m summer signing straight into action now he's fully recovered from a hamstring strain.

Crouch is central to Benitez's tactical plans this season, particularly away from home. That's why the Spanish coach says he'll have no hesitation selecting the giant striker at White Hart Lane.

"Crouch is okay now. He's played a reserve game, where he performed really well. He's been training normally and he's now fit and ready for selection," said Benitez.

"I'm happy to have him back and it's possible he'll play. He's going to be a good player for us and crucial to our away form. He's already confirmed the ideas I had when I tried to sign him. I know I've bought a quality player in Crouch.

"He's not just good in the air, but strong on the ground. Everyone who's seen him, even the fans who've come to see us train, have commented to me how good they think he is on the ground. If he plays at level we hope, we know we're going to improve.

It remains to be seen if Crouch will be paired with Djibril Cisse at White Hart Lane.

Fernando Morientes' hamstring injury means the Reds have limited striking options, but Benitez has dismissed claims the decision to sell Milan Baros now looks premature, given no replacement arrived.

"We were thinking about the money we'd have to spend before we signed Reina, Crouch and Sissoko," explained Benitez. "When we spent that money on Sissoko, we took advantage of a surprising opportunity we couldn't miss.

"We'd spent funds partly allocated for the right midfielder and centre-half and that's why we sold Baros.

"I'm not thinking it's going to be like last season with injuries. We had players being ruled out for six months and that's not the case this time.

"Only Kewell and Mellor have been injured a long time. At least we know Morientes won't be out so long."

yeah Carew was very effective for valencia, ur right on that for sho! However, I reckon Crouch will av a much better goal ratio though.  :)

I just looked over LFC.tv and in one of their articles they are suggesting that both Cisse and Crouch will play tomorrow.

Peter crouch will be in the england squad heading up the 4 - 5 - 1 formation for this seasons world cup.

I think he will prove all his critics wrong this season and play like a bean pole possesed. Go on Peter score your heart out. Crouch to be LFC top scorer this season.

And I hope all the guys on this forum that said he was :censored: will eat there words come the end of the season. :blues:

Dont rate Crouch 1 ounce of a cent, unfortunately.

i think he will be out of the door, in a similar way to heskey only a lot sooner. i'm talking 1 season or so, just like Nunez and Pellegrino. He's just a yard too short for us.

this guy may be tall, but he's too slow to get up for headers. trust me ive seen him play.

he's be a good pantomine character in Jack and the beanstalk in Panto,, thats all.
