Crouch would eclipse any of the Souness dodgy buys imo.

You all backed Niel Mellors little stint in the first team didnt you and fatty only managed to score a handful. Crouch managed to score 16, thats almost double what Baros managed and hes the European top scorer. Rafa is goin for him becasue he is cheap and he is already proven, he is tall and good in th air and is he plays good witha  bunch of no hopes like Southampton Then i sure he can do well for us.

Everyone was questioning Steven Finnan when he came into the squad saying he wasnt good enough but look how well he turned out.

Have a bit of respect lad, Neil deserves more than to be refered to as fatty. His goal against Arsenal will live forever in the memory and do not forget his goal (along with Pongo's) set up the fairy tale of Gerrards screamer against Olympiakos.

You are cleless if you think that at prices in excess of £7m Crouch is cheap.

I would be all for Ballack coming in but only problem is he's a midfielder not a striker.

Isnt M Ballack a midfielder. Yes i definatly agree on that one.Ballack is aggressive, a good passer and can shoot aswell. He probabaly wouldnt cost more than 10Mil since he only has a year left at Bayern.

If we get crouch for a decent price (under 5 mil) then i think its not such a bad signing.  The lad has got talent.. ok, so he's not world class by any means.. but for the type of player that he is, he has a very good touch and can play with the ball at his feet.
If he does come, then we may well be surprised at how well he could improve his game with the quality of players we have in midfield providing him better oppurtunites.
I honestly think that he could do better than milan in the goalscoring stakes.

I'm inclined to agree with Mick on this one - I know Crouch doesn't look the least bit like a footballer with those Wednesday (gonna break) legs of his but how many times have you lot (who are slating him) seen Southampton play this year? I live on the south coast and got to a few games at St.Marys this season (including the 2-0 loss for us.)

This guy is a good young player. Anyone who saw his England debut recently should be able to see that. The lad did not look the least bit out of place (players who don't belong stick out like a sore thumb.) He's good on the deck, can hold the ball up, brings others into play can spot a pass and obviously his height offers a dimension defenders rarely have to deal with.

For those who quote his time at Villa as proof this kid is a dudd don't forget he must have only been 20 back then, he suffered with injuries early on, was playing under Turnip Taylor and then the new manager didn't fancy him.

I'm not saying Crouch is the answer, particularly with the sorts of figures Harry Rednapp (he must be fooking dreaming!) is bandying about (i read he wanted 10 million!!!!! this morning) but for a reasonable price (say 5 mill tops) he wouldn't be such a bad idea. Not every player who joins the club has to be some hotshot foreigner armed with the golden boot from Portugal, Holland or wherever.

Rafa has obviously seen something in Crouch that can help the team and no doubt has done his homework on the player (maybe more homework than everyone slagging the lad.) and let's face it - The boss seems to know what he is doing.
