Owen.... - The traitor

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

How is Owen a traitor when this is just a silly season rumour?

Man UTD couldn't afford Owen at the moment and I doubt he'll leave Madrid this summer.

No, stinger, all of this is nonsense. The sooner the season starts and the transfer window closes the better.

90% of threads started these days are just puffs of smoke........absolutely nothing in them and pointless talking about them.

i say if the price is right and we have the first option, get owen back. he's proven 20 goal striker and would love to see him with the service of alonso, gerrard, garcia and company. cisse, nando are class players, but has yet to hit any form in the prem. i pray they will next season, if they don't, we'll be struggling to win matches again.

as to owen to manure, its a rumour, nothing concrete. we can start the hating later if it does happens.

Maybe, but this is a forum, and like it says, where all football fans can voice their opinions, so don't knock it BA. This is a serious issue if it comes to fruition, and I started it to know what ppl feel about it. Forum, this is what happens.

This came from the News Of The Screws, a paper that's the laughing stock of the industry. There was almost a mass-walkout at the press awards when they won Newspaper Of The Year.

They p*ss in the wind so often during silly season that it's almost ridiculous anyone reads anything they say. It really is scandalous that they get away with it.

Oh no - a "source" close to Owen says "he has a hankering to play for United".

WHO THE F*CK USES THE WORD HANKERING?

Oh, I know - journalists making up quotes from "sources" that are figments of their imagination. Most papers use made up quotes to flesh out a story at times, but The Sun and the News Of The World regularly use made-up quotes as the foundation for their stories, which is another thing entirely.

Sorry, but I just think that paper's appalling. :(

I really hope this doesnt amount to anything, and I'm sure he wants to stay with Real to sort out his career in Spain, but, it doesnt look good. I know its a rumour, but this has to be posted, I mean, he has already turned his back on us, but to go and stab it with a knife and join our most hated rival, I'm sorry it doesn't sit well with me, and Im not sure if I can accept it. He will get the boo's and I hope that he does from the Kop if he joins ManUSA.

So what??

Owen turned his back on this club the minute he fu.cked off to spain to 'win things'.  Personally I don't want him back here anyway and if he decides to go to the scum then it doesn't really make a difference to me.  He's overrated (for reasons that i have discussed before and can't be bothered repeating) and he wouldn't be an automatic starter at the scum anyway seeing as they only play with one central striker these days and already have horsey and shrek.

Don't really think this was worth a thread and you have been quick to criticise others in the past (including myself) over starting threads.  So take your own advice

I originally came across it on the skysports site, i know its not much more credible, but i didnt hear of it from News of the World.

from skysports:
Owen in United's sights
by Paul Higham

Michael Owen could return to England with Manchester United, as his Real Madrid future still seems unclear.

The England international marksman is happy with life in the Spanish capital, but is still being tipped to leave El Santiago Bernebeu after just one season at the club.

Wanderley Luxemburgo is keen on bringing Brazilian starlet Robinho into the club, and that could mean the end for Owen.

Owen is determined to be a success in Madrid, but he may soon be told that he is surplus to requirements by Luxemburgo.

Newcastle United and Arsenal have been mooted as admirers, while former club Liverpool seem cool on the prospect of Owen returning to Anfield.

Arch-rivals Manchester United are now being tipped as the club Owen would return to England to play for, looking for a link-up with international strike partner Wayne Rooney.

Reports in England have suggested that new owner Malcolm Glazer has given Sir Alex Ferguson the go-ahead to bring in Owen to bolster the squad for a renewed Premiership title bid.

Owen's future with Real remains uncertain and club and international team-mate David Beckham added that he was not certain the 25-year-old will still be at the club next year.

"He has had a great season as he has scored a lot of important goals for the team and has the capability of scoring goals," Beckham said.

"If he has chances, he scores. He's very good - but if he will be here next season, I don't know."

Owen also has to weigh up his future with one eye on the World Cup in Germany next year, as sitting on the bench may harm his chances of making a big impact.

However, Sven Goran Eriksson has been happy to pick Owen when he has been available, and the diminutive striker has looked sharp despite his relative lack of action in Spain.

Owen to Utd is not a nice thought but theres nothing we can do about that. At the end of the day he aint a Liverpool player any longer. I think its fair to say that if Madrid get a decent offer they will let him go and take a huge profit into the bargain. If you recall, we did take Ince from Milan, so same as really. I also remember never taking to Ince because of his Utd connections, just never felt right somehow.

Stinger, by "reports in England", Sky Sports mean the News Of The World. They say this so that there's no comeback on them if/when someone points out that the story is complete rubbish. The rest of their article is recycled quotes from recent speculation.
