Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I found this yesterday translated it means Real madrid have invited us to play in a mini tournement for the Bernabeau cup or something on the 23rd of August.

http://www.as.com/articul....sftbA00

But we are due to play a CL qualifier that night IF we are in it  :sniffle the prem starts on the 13th of august and Liverpool will already have to cancel a league game to play cska moscow in monaco for the super cup on the 26th august.
So theres noway we can take part in this tournement so why have we been invited to play in it  ???
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Roughly translated, the story says:

The Bernabéu Trophy was begun in 1979 with a spirit of agreed greatness with the legendary figure whose memory.

Don Santiago Bernabéu passed away the 2 of June 1978. The trophy was created a year later with the idea to always invite the best teams in the world. Objective that little by little let be respected (in 1997 played the Portuguese). For that reason, the present directors of the club are thinking about recovering the prestige of the appointment. And nothing better than to invite for XXVII running of the competition Liverpool, brilliant Champion of the Champions.

To Florentino (Perez) they shone on that magical night to him in Istambul, a game that Mr Perez saw from the television of his house how the tactics of Rafa Benítez gave a lesson of anger and direct soccer to overcome before the Milan a 3-0 that seemed impossible.

In addition, the fact that the Liverpool has in its squad Josemi, Xabi Alonso, Núñez, Luis Garci'a and Morientes increases the attractiveness of a party that will dispute in the madridista stage on the 23 of August. It will serve, to five days of the beginning of Liga, like official presentation before the liking. A data exists more than it guarantees the desire of the club to organize the one that would be, without a doubt, the great soccer appointment of the summer. Madrid and Liverpool boast between them 14 European Champion's Cup Success' (9 of Madrid and 5 of the Liverpool).

It would be the third time that the targets are moderate to reds in the Bernabéu Trophy. In 1989 and 2002, same result for the host: 2-0. Habemus revancha. From year 1987 it is disputed to unique party Ever since the Bernabéu Trophy started in 1979, in different occasions it has varied of format until from 1987 the club decided that always it was disputed to unique party. The only exception was in the edition of the Centenary (year 2002), that recovered formulates it of the quadrangular one. This one was developed in first editions, until 1986, with the added incentive of which before the parties of the four invited clubs, also their youthful equipment played. It turned the Bernabéu Trophy a showcase for future stars. Emilio Butragueño was one of them... 1981: the painful defeat of the Madrid of the Garci'as If I recite that eleven to them initial, the most puristic madridistas will shout quickly: "That one is the eleven of the end of Paris in 1981". And these were: Agust Courteous Gª, Known, Gª Knives, Camacho; Angel, Of The Forest, Stielike; Juanito, Santillana and Cunningham. Yes, it was the famous Madrid of the Garci'as.

The end of the Glass of Europe of that year of sad memory was disputed in the Park of the Princes of Paris, before a Liverpool led by Souness, Dalglish and Sammy Lee. The party was soporific and could end the conquest of Seventh (without having to wait for Amsterdam) if Camacho does not send over the stringer a petroleum jelly before Ray Clemence. But near the end Courteous Garci'a pifió clears and Kennedy shot to Agustín. 1-0 and to house...
