Its safe to say Baros is a gonner, would love michael owen back we still need to get 2 strikers incase of injuries next season.
We have 3 strikers now, 2 arnt scoring cant include cisse cause of his injury, morientes finding the prem very difficult, Baros well i duno i think his confidence is shot to pieces, and i am bleedin sick of big @rse defenders booting him everywhere all the time.

dont forget valencia played with a big target man in john carew for a while, not sure if that was under rafa or hector cuper but if it was during rafa`s reign maybe he likes to have a big fella in the squad just incase he has to mix the game up and get a physical presence leading the line.
i seem to remember carew had a good touch for a big fella and crouch isnt bad on the deck so maybe rafa is looking at him after all.
again i`m sure rafa knows what he`s doing and i suppose it makes good sense to have different types of players on the bench, if a certain style of player isnt having any joy against a defence its pointless changing like for like.

If he wants a big chap up front, he should go for Jan Koller. You don't get much bigger than that! He'd be cheaper, too! (If he hasn't retired!!!!) Up the 'pool!

I think next season and the one after we will have 2 diffrent teams, one for the prem and one for europe mixing the players, if Morientes stays him and the likes of luis and who ever else is brought in they will play against teams that play football, we will probably have some bread and butter players to play against the sunday league footballers, e.g. blackburn :Oo: Im dreading playing them next season already,Bolton and the bitters, totenham and the gooners arnt really dirty i quite like Spurs TBH, now rafa knows the prem abit, he will have changed his mind on the players he wanted to purchase and we will see maybe 3 great players come in, and a few for them sh.it cold winter midweek games against pompey and the likes :glare:
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Listen at this stage if Rafa wants to put the mutt from down our road up front next season I'll trust him. He has at least bought that right from us this season :p

This cant be true, but i second that if Rfa were to make the purchase i would have enuff faith to trust him.....But in reality he is not Liverpool standard, i mean Villa got rid, and we used to sell all our old or reject players to them in the nineties!!!
Prefer if this wasnt true

Djimi Traore is better than crouch.

Remember Traores goal against Liverpool when we played Burnley.?

Crouch isnt that skillful.

I don't think Crouch is that bad, and it is worth mentioning that the team will have to have a certain number of English players in the future.  He's performed well domestically, and that's where the team has struggled.

In all seriousness he's not a bad player by any means. He caused us a deal of problems down at St Mary's and suffice to say Southampton haven't missed Beattie too much with him around.
People on here who are saying he is useless are well wide of the mark in my view, for a big man his touch is actually very good. I personally wouldn't go for it but there have been far more ridiculous suggestions on here before.
It's become a bit of a tradition that the three relegated teams get their best players nicked when they go down. It goes right back to Crystal Palace with Southgate and Ian Wright. Good players do play in relegated teams, Joe Cole, Glen Johnson (who is actually a left-midfielder if ever I've seen one but I digress), Jermaine Defoe, Alan Smith, Paul Robinson to name but a few in recent times. Those in the relegated teams that can cut it in the Prem will be nicked by the stayer uppers and some will get a bargain.
Expect to see Damien Francis, Dean Ashton, Andy Johnson, Wayne Routledge, Fitz Hall, Robert Greene, Robert Earnshaw, Johnathon Greening, Peter Crouch, Kevin Phillips, Anti Niemmi and the ball-winning midfielder at West Brom who's name escapes me (Robinson maybe?) stay up whatever happens with various clubs. Someone will get a bargain. Those who buy Francis, Greene, Niemi and obviosly :D Earnshaw will get value for money in my view. Crouch? dunno, I'm not sure I think he's got it but I'm not sure he hasn't either.

but seriously, if this came to be true what kind of signal is it sending out? the great rafalution, champions league finalists (maybe winners), looking to build a great new prem and europe conquering team around mr gerrard - so we go out and bag peter bl'oody crouch. for christs sake, even the guys name is a joke.

If it is true...then its true... i ain't gonna question rafa...

But hope crouch is not the man who is gonna replace baros......  But i have no problem if he was the 4th choice striker....
