Maybe it's not Slot it's his bench of coaches who aren't up to it? Then what do we do?
I'd rather him bring in a top first team coach than sack Slot. Pep Ljinders anyone?
The truth is Reg that the coaches work for him and they do what he says. Hulsoff and Heitinga came in with him and when Jonny left he brought in Van Bronkhurst. Hes surrounded himself with people he trusts so I dont believe they are letting him down. They use his tactics and prepare the players accordingly. If its not working then its his problem.
By Salahs own admission Slot has given him a free role where he doesnt have to defend. Gravenberch also admitted to getting concessions so he can go forward more to the role he likes. Gakpo doesnt track half the time either, plays poorly most weeks and gets rewarded with being one of the 1st names on the sheet. He clearly has his favourites and in any work environment that causes problems. People say Mac Allister has fallen off a cliff this year but IMO its stuff like this that has a lot of players not performing or giving their all during games. Most look disillusioned with the setup and tactics as well as the Fans watching it. Just listening to his interviews annoys me because he doesnt seem to want to change much.
If the club sack him then its up to them to find a suitable replacement and id hope it wouldn't be someone like ljinders who didn't do very well in both jobs he had. Just because hes worked under two of the best coaches in the game doesnt mean anything. We are a big club that needs a big manager who automatically gets the respect of every player he has. Can't see that weasel getting that from world class players like Klopp, Guardiola, Ancelotti or Simeone would. If we cant get something like that then you consider someone like Emery or Enrique who have built up good XP as managers.
Slot fwiw had an ok CV but hes clearly struggling. Proper fans dont want to see us playing this bad or him failing but here we are witnessing both. Hes put himself in a position where every poor result just brings that axe closer whether he has the support of the board or not. There is a good chance they will back him in January with a player or two but that will just bring even more pressure to start delivering.
