I really don't understand how we can't buy a goal these days. All that firepower upfront and yet in some (most) games we look like we wouldn't be able to score even if the match went on for eternity.

I think when you are facing well organised teams who sit deep all you can do sometimes is play the percentages and hope lady luck is on your side.
What i mean by that is, well...first up you only need 1 goal, 1 goal throws their game plan  out of the window so as long as you don't concede the other end you're not looking for miracles - only a goal.
I think what you need to do is get men forward and then bombard their box with crosses, the law of averages suggests that even in a packed penalty area if you get enough crosses in opportunities will eventually fall your way. Our problem is we don't get anywhere near enough balls into the box, we spend far too much time faffing around passing it side to side looking for openings that are not going to come. 4 crosses each half is not going to do it, if you're going to invoke the law of averages you need to get 40 crosses in, not 4.
When facing well organised teams you do need to be patient but patient in this context means you need to develop the ability to sit there and be able to watch cross after cross get fired in and cleared away without becoming downhearted or dispirited.
Being patient doesn't mean passing it around your own back 4 for 10 minutes, that's not being patient that's just being stupid and counter-productive by wasting your own time.

We have more than enough firepower to be scoring goals but tactically we are so bad. It goes wide everytime to either Gakpo or Salah and 98% of the time it goes nowhere. It literally sucks the confidence and life out of us the more they run into dead ends. There is no urgency to feed the strikers quickly so they can get into a position where its 2 on 2 or even 3 on 2. Its 10 on 11 because of the pace at which we move the ball. Its not going to change either because its how Slot wants to play. We havent changed much since the season started and listening to him, we are just unlucky and need to take the chances which is rubbish. Hes done nothing to shore up the defence, the midfield are weak and unbalanced while the strikers starve. Last night was poor, at home against a promoted side and we lucked an OG to get a point. I hope he thanked Chiesa as well for saving his *****. Why isnt all our players giving the commitment he does. Most managers would reward that kind of effort but no, he only is used when desperation kicks in because he won't drop his precious Mo or Gakpo.

Straight up lads we have Ten Hag mach 2. Stubborn as eff and an ego that won't allow change. Has he never watched the Premier league before because no way can he think that kind of football will dominate this league. Whats worse is he inherited a team with the ability and mentality that could. Its like he has taken us back in time to 2010 and we are Brentford!!

Im not saying sack him but he needs to be sat down by his bosses and given a stern talking to. They won't take the fall for the massive spend in the summer so it will land on him. Hes getting nothing from them of value at all which is not a good sign. Hate to say it but hes only a few bad results away from the D.C.M!!

Agree and long story short lads his going to fix fek all. I just struggle to see it. The one player who bust his balls off is given cameo roles. We've become like a team from the Dutch league and yeah ETH M2. He ain't fixing shyte, I think owners are hoping he could get us top 4 because the others are also quite inconsistent, however let Jan/Feb kick in and if we keep our current form going there will eventually be a gap between us and UCL spot. What's the point of splashing more money in Jan for Guehi and even links with Semenyo. Rather a solid manager works with those players than who we've got currently. His stubborn as fek, due to outward pressure he has taken Salah off.

I ain't seen sh1t this season that gives me hope.

I don't want us to lose, what real fan would, I want us to turn it around but I just can't see it, I hope I'm wrong and we do propel.

Folks are criticizing Slot but who would you replace him with?
Maybe it's not Slot it's his bench of coaches who aren't up to it? Then what do we do?
I'd rather him bring in a top first team coach than sack Slot. Pep Ljinders anyone?

Sorry Reg but you're talking ***** !
Slott is supposedly the man responsible for leading and directing the team.
Are you really suggesting that he needs a "top first team coach"  to sort out our performances ?
If that's the case why the f*ck would we need Slott ??????????  :kungfu:

The truth is Reg that the coaches work for him and they do what he says. Hulsoff and Heitinga came in with him and when Jonny left he brought in Van Bronkhurst. Hes surrounded himself with people he trusts so I dont believe they are letting him down. They use his tactics and prepare the players accordingly. If its not working then its his problem.

By Salahs own admission Slot has given him a free role where he doesnt have to defend. Gravenberch also admitted to getting concessions so he can go forward more to the role he likes. Gakpo doesnt track half the time either, plays poorly most weeks and gets rewarded with being one of the 1st names on the sheet. He clearly has his favourites and in any work environment that causes problems. People say Mac Allister has fallen off a cliff this year but IMO its stuff like this that has a lot of players not performing or giving their all during games.  Most look disillusioned with the setup and tactics as well as the Fans watching it. Just listening to his interviews annoys me because he doesnt seem to want to change much.

If the club sack him then its up to them to find a suitable replacement and id hope it wouldn't be someone like ljinders who didn't do very well in both jobs he had. Just because hes worked under two of the best coaches in the game doesnt mean anything. We are a big club that needs a big manager who automatically gets the respect of every player he has. Can't see that weasel getting that from world class players like Klopp, Guardiola, Ancelotti or Simeone would. If we cant get something like that then you consider someone like Emery or Enrique who have built up good XP as managers.

Slot fwiw had an ok CV but hes clearly struggling. Proper fans dont want to see us playing this bad or him failing but here we are witnessing both. Hes put himself in a position where every poor result just brings that axe closer whether he has the support of the board or not. There is a good chance they will back him in January with a player or two but that will just bring even more pressure to start delivering.
