Its clearly obvious that players like Lucas and Henderson are the way forward for this club.

We've got two amazing players in those two... surely all the top teams in world football will be sniffing around them come the summer. Best midfield in the world.

Who needs Alonso, Gerrard, Hamann and even Mascherano when we've got players like Lucas and Henderson... we're so lucky to have two players in their that would struggle to get into most sides in the premier league. :no

Absolutely embarrassing that people rate those two.

stop being such a drama queen and putting words in peoples mouths, no one is claiming that lucas and henderson are brilliant players, what they are saying though is that those 2 are probably our best defensive pairing because they are fairly athletic.
in the past we relied heavily on the likes of gerrard to create and score our goals but with the likes of suarez, sturridge, coutinho and moses up top we arent as reliant on midfield as we once were. what we need from our midfield now is for them to set a decent platform for our front four to play from, or in other words we dont expect miracles from our midfield all`s we want of them is that they dont get over run. (which is what has been happening, especially late on in games)

Well said

Stu I am not saying we should sell Gerrard all I am saying is that in away games, Game in which we are probably going to chase the ball more, It might be a good tactic to play the players who can run a bit more a bit more athletic and track players more, Then if needed Bring Stevie on to win the game or whatever, Relying on 1 player to be the man he was nearly 10 years ago is not how we will restore this club back to its glory days

So you're saying you rate fitness and stamina over quality?

You're on about taking out still, one of the best midfield players in the country, for two dog average players, just because of stamina... That's absolutely ridiculous to be quite honest. Coutinho's another player who lacks stamina, should we drop him aswell?

You can bang on about fitness and intensity all you like... but I'm sorry, i'd rather have class and quality over that all day.

Gerrard faded badly in the second half against Sunderland... he near enough set two goals up though... Henderson and Lucas probably won't set two goals up this season, let alone in one match.

How often have you ever said to anyone Liverpool have won a game because of Lucas or Henderson playing well? I can name three games this season Gerrard's had that effect in already.

Im saying that when you play a specific thype of opponent you need specific types of players.

The 11 best players wont always win you a match hence why Cardiff beat city.

Gerrards best position is in the lucas role thats why i opted him to play in our home games alongside Hendo.

Henderson in the past say 10 matches has been our best midfield.

Btw what are the 3 games Geerard has had that effect

Wish stu would get it through his thick head that the Steven Gerrard he remembers from 2000 - 2009 has gone...he hasn't been doing the Stevie G for quite awhile....although I wouldn't be surprised if he bust a gut tonight against Poland

Yep, and fair play to him. He loves to be involved in big games whether its for his club or country. He's bound to be more pumped up for a crucial WCQ than for a early season prem game.

great goal from gerrard today and i'm happy for him. It's obvious he wants to end his international career next summer and what better way than at the world cup, captaining your country.
