The biggest concern for me is still ultimately our transfers.  After the money we wasted under Kenny and Comolli, FSG have seemed reluctant to spend big, perhaps rightly so.  So far under Rodgers, the jury is still very much out on his signings.

But for the money we've spent, its ridiculous that we're still relying on kids, Gerrard and Rafa's signings.
Suarez has been our only 100% successful signing in the last few years.

there is an interview floating around the web from ayre saying that rodgers can sign who he wants and age does not matter.

If any media outlet is running a story on Ayre today, the quotes probably come from our official website. Ayre might not be a great MD, but he is a Liverpool man when it comes to the city and the club.

Because this will make your club a long term Work In Progress club and might forever remain in this state. As you are working in progress, there is NO WAY can you finish in top 4 with the likes of manure, City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs around whose owners back them with money to sign ready made quality players. And if your youngsters are coming out good, those big guns clubs in top 4 or in Spain will snap them up and we've become a feeder club for them. That's the problem with this youth policy. It could severely backfire on you. Then what do we do? Use the money from their sales to buy more young promising players and restart the vicious cycle again?

FSG and their SPIN DOCTOR Mr.Ayre must realise this and must invest in a few older experienced players to get back to CL pretty soon, otherwise your star players and promising young stars will be sold. Like I said before, look at RVP at 29 is scoring for fun in almost every match. Manure didn't have this youth policy of FSG and I am certain they will win their 20th title in May thanks to older and much experienced RVP. Why can't FSG learn from that. Yes, I know Ayre said BR can sign older players if he wants to. That is to protect their backside from criticism and I am sure the sincerely there is only 50%. What he and FSG really meant IMO is, if he wants an older experienced player and his price and wage demands are within their small budget, then he can get him. Now, how is that possible if that player is a good quality one like Sneidjer? The only older ones available and approved by them according to their budget will be the average players and we've had enough of such average players signed by KD and Comolli in the squad.

Sure we can go the way of Ure, look at their 800 million quid debt, do we want to waste 50 off million financing that every year?

Come on guys, the situation is like that of cycling, we're trying to run a clean business and avoid doping - clean business means living within your means, doping means success at all costs and run a crippling debt. And there is no such thing as free money, remember that from the T&T days.

We've been there before and we don't want to go back.

Reg, true, manure are 800 mill in the red, but most of it came from leverage which the Glazers used like Hicks and Gillette and with compounded interest it all amounts to 800 million. So that huge debt didn't come from signing players. We are no longer under leverage now, so the owners must be willing to invest heavily but they're are not doing it. And that worries me.

Sorry but that argument doesn't stack up.

Why would an owner clear vast debt only to build it up again and be riddled with crippling interest payments?

We are hardly in an earning position to justify huge outlay, without CL money to top up match day and sponsorship earnings investing heavily on players has no payback mechanism. You will argue that new expensive players are needed to get back to CL but I disagree. Whilst the squad does need to be strengthened, I believe we could make the top 4 with relatively modest investment. It may not be a quick fix solution but we won't be mortgaging our future by taking a punt that new expensive transfers will get us to the CL.

What is the guarantee that we don't sign flops again? And subsequently waste 100m on supposed talent that doesn't materialise.

I still think there is an outside chance of CL this year, although that stance is evaporating quickly as mistakes will happen in a new side learning a new philosophy. However, next season, combined with targeted spending (not wild spending) in the summer transfer window, I am optimistic next season will be the season where it all comes together and we return to a top 4 finish.

Full support to both the manager and owners from me.

how many of these mixed messages that rodgers has been putting out during his time here have been down to boardroom interference?
the agger situation was another one, one minute rodgers was saying danny is a top class player going nowhere and then two days later he says every player has his price?
maybe brendan doesnt talk $*i*e after all, maybe fsg have got more of a say in whats happening that what we think.

I think this is very much the case. I also think that the media is used by managers such as Brendan to establish their real thoughts to the owners as well. It's a strategic thing and you used to see Rafa doing the same thing...same goes for criticizing or praising players.

It's part and parcel of the game today and you see how Kenny's old school tactics (much as I loved them) antagonized the media and pushed them onwards to unsettle us further and further. I think that most who complain about the way Brendan handles the press probably started supporting the club in another day and age when none of this was around. I totally understand their feelings about him talking too much and needing to shut up and perhaps agree at times, but like most things you have to play to other peoples rules when you're not in a strong position and only when you are can you dictate your own terms.

I still maintain that we are a looooooong way away from where we were a few years ago and we're going in the right direction.
