Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Brendan was just interviewed on ESPN here in the states.  In regards to Sturridge's move.  "Well now he's moved to one of the biggest clubs in the world.."

Well said Boss.  Nice little dig at the plastics.

I won't celebrate Rafa going........ but I will be over the moon if Dalglish comes in. League within 2 years if he gets the job, AND YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THAT.

Heimdell. I take it you didn't go to the match as if you did you would know that Stevie was absolutely brilliant tonight. Give ya head a wobble lad and go and watch motd

I reckon we have turned a corner, although the real tests are coming in the next few weeks. Another good performance and another 3 points on the board. Just 7 points off 4th

Exactly with patience the future is bright but I expect there will still be plenty of hills and valleys to climb and dip through before we get there

Fair enough Reg. Just feels like the last few games the team has worked really well as a unit. Goals are coming. My biggest concern now is our defence which is weird cos on paper it looks as strong as ever

Our defence has kept clean sheets in 3 of the last 4 games

True, but whilst we deserved last nights win we were lucky not to concede a couple to Sunderland who on two occasions sliced through our defence like they didn't exist.

We got lucky, which is something that has been missing for a while.
We played well enough, as we have done on many occassions, but whereas the ball has been hitting the back of the net, ala stoke etc. last night it didnt
It still is a concern though that we are sometimes carved open by "lesser" teams

i agree but we still need to ease Stevie out of the team, the amount of fumbles and miss-placed passes is becoming a bit embarrassing but he can still deliver a good ball from time to time. For brendan's system to really work we need quality midfielders and at the moment the ones we have just aren't good enough to compete against the best teams.

Its a bit embarrasing to go pick on your favourite scapegoat, when he had a very good game.

I said he had a good game and how is he my favourite scapegoat?? If you looked at the game he made a lot of small errors in losing possession but fortunately we did not get punished for it. This loss of concentration is not a good sign and is the reason why he needs to be eased out plus the fact that apart from the odd game here and there he is becoming less and less effective to the point where he's almost a passenger in a lot of games.
Look I love Stevie to bits and he's one of my all time favourite players but we have to be realistic and put him in the same category as Carragher.

Fantastic to see a system coming together but it won't work against every team and that is why we need a plan B. Stevie had a fantastic game against Sunderland and I firmly believe that it was because the likes of Downing and Henderson showed massive improvement and allowed Stevie far more freedom. The 60 yard pass to Luis was the Gerrard of old and he's grabbed a few goals recently.

I've maintained for a while that we need to use Stevie economically to get the very best out of him. What the fk Heimdall is on about suggesting that he should be eased out of the team beggars belief?
Net Spend Over The Last 5 Years 20/21 to 24/25  (10 years
are in brackets 15/16 to 24/25 )
LFC €300m (€420m)
Everton +€33m (€211m)
Arsenal €557m (€853m)
Spurs €571m (€684m)
Chelsea €945m (€1051m)
Man City €370m (€1038m)
Man United €687m (€1240m)

Have you been happy with Gerrard all season, yes or no? I have said that he had a very good game yesterday with some nice passes but there were also lots of times he was caught in possession or simply failed to control the ball. Overall for this season he is a shadow of his former self and long term we need to find a replacement for him.
