I'm not at all optimistic about this signing, I am not saying that Daniel Sturridge is a poor player, far from it. Chelsea supporters are upset that he's leaving, they believe him and Lukaku could have been important future members of their first team and are upset that he's leaving for as little as £12m, but he's just not prolific. 38 goals in 140 appearances is not a great games to goals ratio and that's precisely what we need. We need to sign someone with a good games to goals ratio. I hope it will be Sturridge, but I have my doubts.

Sturridge though may not be a prolific scorer, I am sure will add more teeth up front partnering Suarez. We have to get real, LFC at this point in time with no CL footie, no hope of finishing in top 4 cannot attract star names. And guys like Sturridge at 12M will do for now and hope we can gradually over the next 2 - 3 seasons can build up to be title contenders again if stingy, useless FSG will change their stubborn stance and invest heavily. If they continue to be like now, then be prepared to be stuck at mid table regardless of how good a manager Brendan is.

If Sturridge has balls it will work out fine, if he wants to be a spoilt whinger then he has no future. He's 'failed' at Man City and Chelsea and should be worth 20 million+ so the emphasis really is on him to save his career as after LFC its Villa-land for him. I believe he'll work out.

he didnt fail at city mate, it was a similar scenario to the one we had with sterling a few weeks back.
he came through the ranks at city being raved about as a future star and when his contract ran out he had a decision to make, where sterling decided to stay with us sturridge decided to move on.
city were gutted because firstly they didnt want to lose one of the brightest prospects in the english game and secondly they didnt get much money for him because the fee was sorted out by a tribunal.
you make a good point though, sturridge has got to ask himself if he fails at anfield (as well as stamford bridge) then where does he go? it certainly wont be to another big club.
i`m just hoping playing week in and week out will help him find the sort of form he showed at bolton.

It seems that Sturridge is the closest example for a "money ball" type purchase. He is young, under-achieved and cheaper than what his market price should be. A talented player that has not performed for whatever reason. He could well blossom in this young side.

Im excited by the signing of Sturridge.  i have a couple of mates who are Chelsea fans and they are gutted that he is leaving.  They both rate him higher then Torres although thats not hard, as they also think Di Matteo is a better manager than Rafa!!!
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

he isnt cheap at 12 mil and he will be up there in the wage structure so imo he is doing well getting a move here and isnt worth any more.
he cant get a game at chelsea and there isnt anyone else looking to sign him so he either rots till they loan him out or he takes this move and proves himself.
other than him being another overated english youngster there is nothing to suggest he is worth the colour of 20+ and if we had of paid that then we havent learned any lessons from our past mistakes.

Apparently £12 mill pus £57k per week which will rise to £63k with bonus payments (win, score and assist bonuses)

Not bad for a player of his standard.  I have no doubt he will be a success here - Good Luck and welcome Daniel!!! I hope to see lots of dancing this season and many more to come!

Right.

That is the best ive seen BR system work against a team that has something about them. We are closing down really well and breaking at speed, add Danny and thats going to be a fast front 3.

Credit where its due.

i agree but we still need to ease Stevie out of the team, the amount of fumbles and miss-placed passes is becoming a bit embarrassing but he can still deliver a good ball from time to time. For brendan's system to really work we need quality midfielders and at the moment the ones we have just aren't good enough to compete against the best teams.

thats a joke about Stevie yes? if you got to see the game tonight you would have seen a player that had total control over the rest of the midfield. i would go as far to say he was MOTM.

Its a bit embarrasing to go pick on your favourite scapegoat, when he had a very good game.
