Joe Allen is a quality player. You clearly aren't watching matches properly if you feel the way you do about him. I haven't seen him have a really poor performance this season.

Allens role in the midfield at present is a thankless task. We've seen it before with Lucas and I bet it's the same people coming out with the same unappreciative remarks!

You make a great case for Allen. But like you conclude; did we really need to spend that much on a player who's position wasn't a priority?
The only reason why Allen is ahead in the pecking order is because he is a favourite of the manager, who the manager trusts to do a job, what that is only BR can tell me? Keeping possesion in the middle of the park, boring teams to death will not work. PL opponents are mentally too strong for that nowadays; let alone the CL where Allen will be left chasing shadows; providing this squad can get there of course.

IMO, Jay Spearing (Remember that kid who came on against Real Madrid in the 2nd half when we were 5 to the good? He didn't look at of place did he?) could have been moulded into this type of player and would have saved us a lot in the market.

Honestly, Allen; Good for his age, but he just aint that great a player.[/quote]

lucas has been out for almost a year now with what is a career threathening injury.spearing was never up to the job and not a patch on allen.
when new managers come in they like to sign their own type of player to make a mark and your right in our case it was allen but that still doesnt make him a bad signing. adam wasnt good enough and was rightfully shipped.then there is hendo who isnt good enough either so personally id rather allen over those 3 anyday. we did overpay but his value will increase here and in 3 years he could be worth what we paid.
rodgers made his mistakes over the summer but for our sake he needs to get it right from now on.he'd have learnt his lesson and wont be so naive in future when it comes to transfers. he needs to sign a striker who can comfortably net and take pressure off suarez and himself.

SPEARING WAS NO WHERE NEAR GOOD ENOUGH TO PLAY ANY POSITION AT LIVERPOOL FC!!!!

You cant mould s**t into anything, it's still s**t at the end of the day........... :no

All other English clubs pale into insignificance!"

OK I concede.
Joe Allen is a class act.  :bowdown  - let's count the number of attacks 'our Joe' breaksdown in today's match.
However, unlike Sideshow Bob who is the real star and unsung hero.  :buttrock
Allen is merely an over rated candidate for Midfield General Elect.  :nod

From this day forward let him be known as:
***SIDEWAYS JOE***
Midfield unsung hero and superstar of LFC  :wwww

So it was written; so it shall be done...

I've supported Brendan alot since he has come here but his comments today about there being a bit of pain im not to pleased about. I mean 1stly not very good comments coming out on match day. 2. Doesnt once mention that a win today would take us into the top half and only 3 points off Arsenal and 4 off spurs and Everton.

Maybe a better motivational talk on game day next time Brendan

Any credibility your posts may have immediately become irrelevant when you start praising Spearing, actually they become irrellevant when you hit the reply button

JUMP on the Spearing band-wagon when it was an example of a player who could hold his own and did so throughout periods of last season, as did the midfield of last season bar Crappy, Crappy STU.
But hey, never mind my opinion - DID YOU see that GREAT PASS ***SIDEWAYS JOE*** made when Newcastle were tired? It nearly lead to a goal and I NEARLY started to believe that ***SIDEWAYS JOE*** is the class act you all type-hype about
