You make a great case for Allen. But like you conclude; did we really need to spend that much on a player who's position wasn't a priority?
The only reason why Allen is ahead in the pecking order is because he is a favourite of the manager, who the manager trusts to do a job, what that is only BR can tell me? Keeping possesion in the middle of the park, boring teams to death will not work. PL opponents are mentally too strong for that nowadays; let alone the CL where Allen will be left chasing shadows; providing this squad can get there of course.
IMO, Jay Spearing (Remember that kid who came on against Real Madrid in the 2nd half when we were 5 to the good? He didn't look at of place did he?) could have been moulded into this type of player and would have saved us a lot in the market.
Honestly, Allen; Good for his age, but he just aint that great a player.[/quote]
lucas has been out for almost a year now with what is a career threathening injury.spearing was never up to the job and not a patch on allen.
when new managers come in they like to sign their own type of player to make a mark and your right in our case it was allen but that still doesnt make him a bad signing. adam wasnt good enough and was rightfully shipped.then there is hendo who isnt good enough either so personally id rather allen over those 3 anyday. we did overpay but his value will increase here and in 3 years he could be worth what we paid.
rodgers made his mistakes over the summer but for our sake he needs to get it right from now on.he'd have learnt his lesson and wont be so naive in future when it comes to transfers. he needs to sign a striker who can comfortably net and take pressure off suarez and himself.
