The problem with this more expansive style of football is that it looks nice to watch when everything is clicking. But if everything is not clicking like it's supposed to like yesterday, you can get really really exposed defensively. West Brom were having there way with our defense in the 2nd half. It was just too easy for them. We shouldn't be too alarmed about it yet since it is early days. When the mancs lose they lose terribly as well losing by 3-0, 4-0, 5-0. I am concerned though, whether the owners will support BR fully. We probably need 2 more players who can play the way rodger wants. I thought that downing was terrible yesterday... So we need a wide player...
MMMM... The type of player BR wants - E.G Iniesta?
Not having a pop, but I reiterate - Rafa fisrt came in, made a bit of money from selling D Murphy and brought in Xabi - the owners then backed with a few LO-KEY signings. He was then left to play with the squad he had... The rest is history.
As for playing style - again Rafa did things SLOWLY, working from the defence through to the attack - basically making the team hard to beat first of all, then seeing what can happen tactically in the last 3rd. Rafa never made suggestions re; style - as this only puts great pressure on the current players at the club.
Getting a squad to gel and play a certain style takes seasons - not games and BR has been a little nieve in thinking he can.
