STEVEN GERRARD - Official Thread

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Take out Hamman and we wouldn't of won the CL 05 , take out Alonso , Sami , Dudek even Traore with his goaline clearance .

No player can and ever has won a trophy single handed - that's media driven :censored: . Football is a team game and you need them all .

Take out Kenny from Liverpool and we could of easily struggled because his impact and importance to the team was massive - without him I bet Rush wouldn't of scored as many .

Kenny was voted number 1 by the fans for a reason - because he is and always will be number 1 .

He is whole package .

How old are you Kerry ?

Without Gerrard in Istanbul, we lose by more than 3.
Without Kenny in Paris 1981, Rome 1984, we won both.

How old are you?

after starting off as a defensive midfielder in his early career. not to mention ludicrously playing on the left and upfront for england down the years.

he's the nearest thing you'll see to roy of the rovers :D

based on the nature of Kerry's posts and the number in the name, I'm gonna guess 5 :D
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

You can't say that because played his part in all 3 wins yes that's 3 wins . The finals in those days were very defensive cagey affairs .

Gerrard was playing in the middle first half of Istanbul and was part of the middle of the park that was outplayed  by the Milan midfield . It was Didi that turned that game - him picking up Kaka ( something Gerrard couldn't do ) and realising Gerrard is what turned the game.

I am 39 .

You ? 18 ? 22 ?

Gerrard played out of position first half.. when he resumed his natural position in the second half Milan couldnt contain him.

As for the introduction of Hamann, it wasnt actually what Hamann did.. it was what he allowed Gerrard to do. He removed the shackles imposed upon him and the rest is history.

So Gerrard is not a centre midfielder ?

You show a lot of disrespect to players who achieved so much .

Hamann stopped the player who destroyed in the first half - I remember it clearly from my seat - he ripped us apart . Hamman stopped him and stopped Milan, Gerrard get all the plaudits but Hamman was the real turning point .

So how old Kerry ?

Steven Gerrard is the best Liverpool player I have ever seen, and I don't expect anybody to surpass him anytime soon.

With that in mind, I'm young and have only been a Liverpool fan for 5 or 6 years now, so I was never lucky enough to see Kenny play.

Regardless, Stevie will always be my favorite player.  I absolutely love the guy, and it will be a very sad day when he hangs up his boots.

Not that it really matters but just to add to that offshoot of discussion: nobody knows how Kenny would have fared in a team that wasn't so talented. Regardless, though, the fact is both achieved greatness in different eras and in different circumstances and now they have the chance to make history together. That's something we can all look forward to, we can all agree on that.
