Totally agree, he shouldnt be the first name on the team sheet anymore, his legs have gone he is 34 now, and is getting found out big time.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

we'll find it hard to find ourselves another like him thats for sure but don't rule it out, Kelly could be the next stalwart in Defence. Callaghan, Carragher and maybe Kelly one day?

If everyone was fit our best 4 would be Johnson, Coates, Agger and Enrique.

As it stands I'd be happy seeing Skrtel and Coates until Agger gets fit again. Skrtel has his faults but if we're going to try and develop a pass and move game from the back he's a far better option to have in the side than Carragher.

Skrtel is another hoofer and not even as good as Carragher, average at best and shouldn't be anywhere near our starting eleven. Carragher still has it

Carra-Coates is a better partnership than Coates-Agger

Laughed my :censored: off when I read people think Skrtyl is better than Carra. Funny as :censored:! Absolute comedians with no idea
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

The untried Coates aside Carra is still way ahead of Skrtel and arguably a better bet than Agger given his poor game ratio. All things considered hes still our best centre back at this point and that probably says more about us as squad than Carra himself. The lads doing his best and for an old one, with that amount of mileage on the clock, hes doing a good job.

Dont really agree with any of that, the defence sits too deep because of his lack of pace(any pace), he is clumsy in the box giving far too many penalties away, is losing concentration late on in games and his distribution is atrocious. sorry.

Carragher is still miles ahead of Skrtel who is an awful player. No doubt Carragher should be seeing less game time but it should be a gradual process with a quality player, hopefully that will be coates.

Anyone suggesting Carragher isnt good enough should take a good look at our other CB options first... Still our best CB by quite some distance.

He was our best defender today, made some really good interceptions, especially the one which he did a diving header to clear the ball (even though the Brighton player was going to stick a boot into his face :p ). Shame about conceding the penalty, but it isn't entirely his fault because Spearing should have done better not losing possession in our penalty box!!!

was better from him today.
one thing you can always be sure of is that he would throw himself and probably his missus and kids in front of a challenge if he could.
shame though he conceded another penalty even if you choose to blame spearing for it.
