If Adam, Henderson, Lucas, and Carrol aren't good enough for some people than Carra certainly isn't either.

he's not done but there's no way he should be an automatic starter and he still is which is wrong on every level.

he makes our defence sit ten yards too deep, he's the least athletic of our centre halves and he's also the weakest of the four at bringing the ball out from the back and distribution.

despite this it seems that he's the one who's position is not under threat. it doesn't make sense.

not only does he hoof it up field his defensive role has now resorted to pulling the shirt because he knows he is too slow to catch up.

Give him a bit more time before we slag this Liverpool LEGEND too much for making a mistake

His organization skills alone at the moment mean there is nobody else who can replace him

echoes my thoughts. Reaction is over the top. One silly mistake at the end of a 3-0 ball game and a bullsh....it penno decision and he's being written off from here on in. I don't believe he's done just yet.

Who you play instead of him? Skrtel? even worse than him. Agger? well he is injured, Wilson? not even ready for first team football.

I would play him with Carragher

Carra-Coates partnership could work, give it a try

If everyone was fit our best 4 would be Johnson, Coates, Agger and Enrique.

As it stands I'd be happy seeing Skrtel and Coates until Agger gets fit again. Skrtel has his faults but if we're going to try and develop a pass and move game from the back he's a far better option to have in the side than Carragher.

theres been a clown in that team for the 5 games we've played too - carragher. pulling people down, tripping them up, can't run back quick enough, gets left for dead everytime.

sentimental sh!te aside, he wouldn't get in Bolton or Wolves  team so why should he get in the Liverpool team? oh, because he's a local lad? wheres the shirt with pride?

Love the guy to bits, he's been a loyal servant but it is time to step aside. he knows it.  :nod

So who are we going to play instead

Coates?

He is only 20 and new to the Premier League, so to expect him to come straight in alongside Skertel and everything to be okay is assuming a bit much if you ask me. Carra is still the best defender at the club. Be careful what you wish for because believe me we will miss him when he is gone

I don't think his age should be considered a negative at all. Didn't he start every game for Uruguay at the Copa America? And Phil Jones who he can be compared to has done ok so far when he has figured for Utd. The quicker we stick him in the 1st team the quicker he will adapt imo. Likewise the longer we leave Carra in the team, the more goals we will leak.

I get where you're coming from but unless you play the guy you'll never know if he's good enough. Even from his cameo at the weekend he looks the part to me. Very composed on the ball. Of course there's a concern with him getting used to the pace of the game over here but that only comes with playing time. Be interesting to see how he gets on tonight.

Ferguson would never be afraid to throw Smalling or Jones in to big games and those two have only played a handful of premier league games between them at most. Smailling got the runaround from Suarez last season but in fairness to him he's been excellent this season. Jones has been a revelation.

I wouldn't be writing Carra off just yet but I must admit I wouldn't mind seeing this just once;

Johnson Kelly Coates Enrique

Could be decent?

Coates has plenty of experience even if he hasnt played in the premier league. And as we have seen on numerous occasions the "proven premiership quality" or "premiership experience" doesnt really mean much.

Skrtel might not be the best defender in the world, but atm i'd prefer him over carra. I'd like to see Skrtel and Coates against brighton at least.
